*Strengthening Cultural and Linguistic Bridges Between Poland and India* 🇵🇱🇮🇳

Ms. Małgorzata Wejsis-Gołębiak, Director of the Polish Institute New Delhi, was warmly received by Prof. Hitendra Kr. Mishra, Director of the Central Hindi Directorate, Ministry of Education, Government of India, at his office in New Delhi.

The meeting, which was also attended by senior officials of the Central Hindi Directorate, focused on exploring new avenues to further strengthen the cultural and linguistic ties between Poland and India. The discussions reflected a shared commitment towards deepening literary exchange, promoting language learning, and encouraging greater people-to-people engagement through culture, education, and translation initiatives.

The interaction marked another meaningful step in enhancing Indo-Polish cultural dialogue and fostering mutual understanding between the two countries.

Chandigarh witnessed a significant cultural and intellectual moment with the inauguration of the exhibition Humanist Modernity: The Unbuilt Chandigarh of Maciej Nowicki at the Government Museum and Art Gallery on 12 May 2026. The event brought together distinguished dignitaries, architects, scholars, and members of the cultural community to revisit a remarkable yet lesser-known chapter in the city’s history.

The exhibition traces the extraordinary life and work of Polish architect Maciej Nowicki, whose visionary approach to architecture continues to resonate decades after his untimely demise. Through a rich display of original drawings, plans, and archival material, the exhibition offers a rare insight into Nowicki’s proposed master plan for Chandigarh - an unbuilt vision rooted in humanist modernity.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, IAS, Secretary, Culture, followed by an address by the curator, Mr. Kacper Kępiński, Deputy Director at the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning, Warsaw. The evening also featured remarks by H.E. Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi and Shri H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh.

A key highlight of the evening was the screening of a specially produced six-minute pilot film announcing a forthcoming documentary on Maciej Nowicki. Produced by the Polish Institute and directed by Suraj Kumar, the film offers a compelling introduction to Nowicki’s vision for Chandigarh, situating it within a broader architectural and historical context. The documentary aims to further explore his ideas, legacy, and the enduring relevance of his human-centric approach to urban design.

The event also celebrated cultural exchange through a live performance by renowned Polish artist Michał Rudaś. Known to Indian audiences as a semi-finalist on the popular television show Dil Hai Hindustani, Rudas’s performance served as a vibrant cultural bridge between Poland and India, reinforcing the shared artistic and historical connections highlighted by the exhibition.

The evening concluded with a felicitation ceremony, followed by the national anthem, ceremonial lamp lighting, and a guided walk through the exhibition. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Director of Polish Institute New Delhi, Ms. Malgorzata Wejsis-Gołębiak.

On 13–14 May 2026, Impact’26 will return to Poznań for its 11th edition, bringing together leading voices from across Central Europe and beyond to discuss business, geopolitics, technology, culture and social issues.

This year’s edition focuses on artificial intelligence, security, global politics, economic competitiveness, health, and social and cultural transformation. The programme features 94 hours of discussions, nearly 650 speakers, 9 stages and 25 thematic tracks, including 10 new ones.

Europe Day celebrations this year were truly special — a vibrant coming together of cultures, music, diplomacy, and shared values 🇪🇺

The EUNIC (EU National Institutes for Culture) cluster in New Delhi organised *Europe on Wheels 2026* — a curated cultural journey across some of Delhi’s most iconic venues to celebrate the spirit of Europe Day. The initiative brought together the artistic and culinary heritage of European nations through a unique multi-venue experience.

With the initiative of the Polish Institute New Delhi, we collaborated with Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of India, Embassy of Lithuania in India / Lietuvos ambasada Indijoje, and joined later by the Embassy of Ireland, New Delhi

The occasion was graced by the presence of eminent dignitaries, including Dr. Piotr Świtalski, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, the Ambassador of Ukraine to India, Dr. Oleksandr Polishchuk, the Ambassador of Lithuania to India, H.E. Diana Mickevičienė, also marked their presence, alongside the Deputy Head of Mission of Embassy of Ireland, Mr. Raymond Mullen, reflecting the strong and collective participation of European missions in India. The evening was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Małgorzata Wejsis-Gołębiak, Director of the Polish Institute in New Delhi, Ms. Patricia Loison Director of the Alliance Française de Delhi, Ms. Isabel Pérez Gálvez, Cultural Manager at Instituto Cervantes, and various other dignitaries.

From an engaging Europe Quiz to soulful musical performances, the celebrations captured the spirit of Europe in all its diversity. A standout highlight was the electrifying performance by Polish music sensation Michał Rudaś, alongside wonderful Irish musicians who added their own unique charm to the evening.

One of the most memorable moments was a spontaneous musical collaboration, with Ambassador Diana, Ms. Wejsis-Gołębiak, and Michał Rudaś coming together to sing a Polish song — a melody that intriguingly went on to inspire a classic Bollywood tune, symbolising the deep cultural connections between Europe and India.

Guests also enjoyed a delightful spread of European snacks, soups, and delicacies, making the experience truly immersive.

An unforgettable evening of music, culture, and connection in Thimphu, Bhutan 🇧🇹 🇵🇱✨
The celebration of Poland’s Constitution Day (3 May) — marking the historic 1791 Constitution, the first written constitution in Europe — found a truly special expression this year through music. Set against the serene backdrop of Thimphu, the evening brought together distinguished guests, diplomats, and music lovers for a celebration that beautifully bridged two cultures.
The highlight of the evening was a mesmerizing performance by renowned Polish vocalist Michał Rudaś, who captivated the audience with a unique repertoire blending Polish, Bhutanese and Indian music. In a heartfelt gesture, he performed two songs in Dzongkha, including “Pindarikaa” from the film of the same title —earning an overwhelmingly warm and enthusiastic response from the Bhutanese audience.
The event graciously hosted by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Bhutan, Mr. Wangdi Jamyang, in cooperation with the Polish Institute New Delhi, was truly interncultural dialouge.
The event was graced by the Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, Dr. Piotr Antoni Świtalski. Among the distinguished attendees was D. N. Dhungyel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan, alongside members of the diplomatic corps and other esteemed guests.

The event opened with a special performance by Mr. Michał Rudaś where he sang the "Mazurek Trzeciego Maja" which is one of the most important Polish patriotic songs. It was composed in April 1831 on the 40th anniversary of the 3rd of May Constitution. It commemorates the adoption of the Constitution, expressing joy over the reforms and hope for regaining independence.

The impact of the performance extended beyond the venue—the audience’s enthusiastic response quickly resonated online, with a recording even reaching Mr. Sonam R. Kuenfel, director of Pindarikaa, who shared it on social media, where it is already gaining remarkable attention.

An evening like this reminds us of the power of music as a universal language—building bridges, fostering dialogue, and bringing people closer together.
