Strengthening Global Partnerships for Green Shipping

The VOC–Europe Green Shipping Corridor Coalition Kick-off was held virtually, bringing together senior leadership from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, and stakeholders from across the green shipping value chain.

Shri Venkatesapathy S., IAS Joint Secretary (IT, E-Gov, IC, MA & MS, DW & DGLL), MoPSW, delivered the Keynote Address, while Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, delivered the Special Address.

The session brought together fuel suppliers, storage and terminal operators, shipowners, shipping operators and shipping lines, international ports, infrastructure providers, offtakers, and international partners to discuss the development of a commercially viable VOC–Europe Green Shipping Corridor and support the upcoming feasibility assessment through collaborative industry engagement.

The Green Hydrogen and PtX Production Training for Project Developers and Technical Project Managers commenced today under the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) India, in collaboration with ICF Consulting, with the support of V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority.

The inaugural session was addressed by Shri Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS, Deputy Chairperson, VOCPA, highlighting the importance of collaboration and capacity building in advancing India's green energy ambitions.

The programme was led by representatives from GIZ India - Mr. Sarthak Agarwal, Energy Advisor, and Mr. Aaquib Firdous, Energy Advisor. The technical sessions are being conducted by Mr. Puneet Goel, Director & Leader – Fuels and Resources, ICF India.

The three-day programme (5–7 August 2026) provides participants with practical insights into the techno-economic aspects of Green Hydrogen and Power-to-X (PtX) production, supporting the development of a sustainable energy ecosystem.
