As part of intensified operations to curb criminal activity, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the Gangs, Narcotics and Fi****ms Unit (South), the K-9 Unit, and the Customs and Excise Preventative Unit conducted a joint courier sweep at targeted courier companies and cargo sheds within the Vieux Fort district.
During a search conducted at Shed 2 at the Vieux Fort Seaport, officers discovered a rifle concealed within a shipment, in the presence of the consignee, David Charles Mulvany, a British national residing in Laborie. Mulvany was arrested and was subsequently charged with the offences of Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid License and Importation of Firearm Without a Valid License.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, Mulvany was brought before the Second District Court for a bail hearing where he pleaded guilty to both offences. The court imposed a fine of $10,000.00 for the offence of Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid Licence and a fine of $5,000.00 for the offence of Importation of a Firearm Without a Valid Licence.
The court ordered that the total fine of $15,000.00 be paid forthwith. In default of payment, he shall serve a term of five (5) years' imprisonment.
