Saint Lucia's Christmas celebrations are a vibrant blend of unique traditions and cultural heritage. One of the most intriguing rituals is the Papa Djab masquerade ritual.

This captivating street theatre performance features characters such as Papa Djab, Mary Anset (his pregnant wife) and entourage inclusive of Ti Djabs (little devils), Acrobat, Chouval Bwa and Kabwit.

The dramatic death and resurrection ritual, led by Papa Djab with his four-fingered staff and long arrow-point tail, is a sight to behold.
