As part of Freedom 250, the American Center Monrovia engaged young student-athletes from the Rebecca Academic Center of Excellence in a discussion on teamwork, leadership, and resilience through the lens of U.S. soccer. As the United States prepares to welcome the world for a major international soccer tournament during its 250th anniversary year, participants examined how preparation, adaptability, and collective effort contribute to success on and off the field. The session highlighted how players such as Christian Pulisic and Timothy Weah demonstrate leadership through consistency, discipline, and determination. Students connected these lessons to their own experiences as athletes and the importance of perseverance in achieving long-term goals.

The U.S. embassy in Monrovia and the University of Liberia graduated 100 student-entrepreneurs from a rigorous, three-week business curriculum. These young leaders already finance and operate their own small businesses, and this collaboration equips them with proven U.S. commercial strategies to maximize productivity and scale operations.

The United States challenges these innovators to drive private-sector growth, build economic self-reliance, and compete aggressively in global markets including the United States. We stand ready to support partners who work hard, innovate, and shift the bilateral dynamic from aid dependency to mutual commercial growth.

The United States supported a regional Lassa Fever simulation exercise to strengthen rapid detection and response efforts in West Africa. The exercise brought together experts from eight countries to improve coordination and reinforce systems that address outbreaks at their source. These efforts will help to reduce the risk of cross border spread and contribute to public health protection in the region and beyond.

U.S. CDC specialists led the training, and the U.S. embassy medical staff supported infection prevention control throughout the exercise. This cooperation reflects a practical approach that advances global health security while supporting Liberia’s ongoing efforts to protect its communities.

He also commended the company’s investments in healthcare, education, water access, and local employment, which reflect U.S. priorities to encourage responsible private sector growth.
