The ICT Authority was pleased to endorse the 5th International Conference on Next Generation Computing Applications (NEXTCOMP 2026), reaffirming its commitment to supporting initiatives that advance digital innovation and strengthen Mauritius' knowledge-based economy.

The opening ceremony was attended this morning by the Chairman of the ICT Authority, Mr Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum and the Executive Director, Mr Atishay Sookun, alongside the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, representatives of the University of Mauritius, industry leaders, researchers, academics and students.

Bringing together experts from Mauritius and abroad, NEXTCOMP 2026 provides a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and showcasing research in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data science and the Internet of Things.

As digital technologies continue to reshape societies and economies, partnerships between academia, industry and government are essential to fostering innovation, nurturing talent and accelerating the development of secure and inclusive digital solutions.

The ICT Authority, in its capacity as the Postal Authority of Mauritius, participated in the Universal Postal Union (UPU) POST-ISAC Capacity Development Workshop this morning, organised jointly by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and Mauritius Post Ltd.

The workshop was officially opened by the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr Avinash Ramtohul, who underscored the importance of strengthening cybersecurity and enhancing resilience to support the sustainable digital transformation of the postal and logistics sector.

Representing the Postal Authority were Mr Trilok Dabeesing, IT Director, Mr Amrit Chutoorgoon, IT Manager and Mr Purushotam Luckwa, Senior IT Systems Engineer.

The two-day capacity-building workshop brings together local and international experts to enhance cybersecurity preparedness and cyber resilience through expert-led discussions and practical simulation exercises.

As the national Postal Authority, the ICT Authority remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster secure, resilient and future-ready postal services in Mauritius, recognising that strong cybersecurity is essential to the continued digital transformation of the sector.

ITU Digital Innovation Profile for Mauritius - Virtual Stakeholder's Forum

The Virtual Stakeholders’ Forum on the Digital Innovation Profile for Mauritius was held on 22 July 2026.

Organised by The Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation (MITCI), the Mauritius Digital Promotions Agency (MDPA) and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Forum brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, financial institutions, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial support networks.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Director of the ICTA, Mr Atishay Sookun, welcomed participants and highlighted the importance of stakeholder collaboration in shaping a credible, relevant and actionable Digital Innovation Profile for Mauritius.

During the session, ITU experts presented the initial findings of the Digital Innovation Profile and the proposed direction of the roadmap. Participants, who were present in the DIP Co-creation workshop held in April this year, were invited to validate the assessment, provide additional perspectives and contribute recommendations aimed at strengthening the relevance and practical implementation of the final report in preparation.

The Forum provided an important platform for constructive dialogue and reaffirmed the value of collaboration in building a sustainable, inclusive and innovation-driven digital ecosystem for Mauritius.

The ICT Authority remains committed to supporting an environment that promotes responsible innovation, technological advancement and meaningful economic and social development.
