๐ธ๐จTo honour Seychellesโ 50th Independence Anniversary, the President of the European Council, Antรณnio Costa, sent a warm message of congratulations to President Patrick Herminie and the people of Seychelles.
โ๏ธ Dear President,
We extend our warmest congratulations to you and the people of Seychelles as you celebrate the 50th Anniversary of your nationโs independence, marking a significant milestone in Seychellesโ journey. Over the past five decades, Seychelles has emerged as a beacon of stability, good governance, environmental stewardship, and progress in the African continent and Indian Ocean, leading by example.
The European Union deeply values its long-standing partnership with Seychelles, built on the shared values of democracy, rule of law, and respect for human rights. From the signature of the first Lomรฉ Convention to fostering growth and job creation through the just-concluded Economic Partnership Agreement, a modern and comprehensive free trade agreement, and from the successive Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreements to our joint efforts in strengthening maritime security, the European Union stands by Seychelles in its independent path towards progress and prosperity.
The geopolitical tremors in the Middle East and supply chain disruptions serve as strong reminder of the importance of our trusted relationship.
As you reflect on your achievements over the past 50 years, we reiterate the EUโs commitment to standing alongside Seychelles in addressing the challenges ahead. Together, we can further strengthen our bond for the benefit of our peoples.
Yours faithfully,
Antonia Costa.
