Mauritius Strengthens Renewable Energy Transition with New Household Rooftop Solar PV Grant Scheme

The Minister of Energy and Public Utilities, Honourable Patrick Assirvaden, officially launched the Household Rooftop Solar PV Grant Scheme on Saturday, 25 July 2026, during a ceremony held at the Central Electricity Board (CEB) Station in Curepipe.

The event was attended by the Junior Minister of Finance, Honourable Dhaneshwar Damry; the Chief Executive Officer of the Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd (DBM), Mr Hemraj Rubee; and the General Manager of the Central Electricity Board (CEB), Mr Shamshir Mukoon.

The scheme is the result of a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities, the Central Electricity Board (CEB), and the Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd (DBM), reflecting the Government's commitment to accelerating the adoption of renewable energy technologies across the country.

Under the scheme, eligible households will receive a grant covering 25% of the cost of a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system, up to a maximum of Rs 75,000. The financial assistance is intended to support the installation of either a Solar PV system of up to 3.5 kW with or without battery storage, or a Solar PV system exceeding 3.5 kW equipped with battery storage, under the CEB Household Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Scheme 2026.

The Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd (DBM) will administer the Household Rooftop Solar PV Grant Scheme ensuring the effective implementation and management of the programme.
