ERONGO HOSTS NQA ENGAGEMENT ON NATIONAL POLICY ON QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS

The Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) today hosted an Information Session and Sensitisation Workshop on the National Policy on Qualifications Standards at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform Auditorium in Swakopmund.

Held as part of NQA's nationwide awareness campaign, the engagement sought to introduce stakeholders to the recently approved National Policy on Qualifications Standards and promote a common understanding of qualifications standards within Namibia's education and training system.

Speaking on behalf of Erongo Governor Hon. Nathalia /Goagoses, the Deputy Minister of Justice and Labour Relations and Dâures Constituency Councillor, Hon. Inecia Brandt, welcomed the policy's focus on stakeholder participation, collaboration with industry and responsiveness to labour market needs.

Participants from government institutions, education and training providers, industry, professional bodies and civil society were afforded an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the objectives and implementation framework of the policy. Through this framework, the policy aims to strengthen the quality, relevance and credibility of qualifications in Namibia while supporting national development priorities and improving graduate employability.

On behalf of the Erongo Regional Council, Deputy Director: Human Resource Management, Mr Mwala Kamwi, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed appreciation to the Namibia Qualifications Authority for convening the engagement. He further commended the organisation for its commitment to strengthening Namibia's education and training system.

Proceedings concluded with stakeholders committing to support the implementation of the National Policy on Qualifications Standards.
