The New Brighton Christmas Parade will be taking a break in 2026.

With the ongoing redevelopment work in the Pedestrian Mall, there is too much uncertainty around the timing and completion of the project for us to confidently plan and deliver the parade this year.

We have explored a range of options, but after weighing them all have decided to pause for 2026 and focus on bringing the parade back in 2027.

And don't worry, Santa is still planning a visit to New Brighton. He'll be spending time at the Village Green Te Hiato Kuaka between the 12th and 19th December, and we'll be putting on some special Christmas entertainment on the 19th at the Seaside Market on Marine Parade, and the Village Green.

We will share more details about that in the coming weeks.

It is with great sadness that we let you know that, Long time volunteer and Chair Person of New Brighton Project, Neil Langdon, passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday morning at Christchurch Hospital.
In his final days, Neil was surrounded by family, friends, and so much love.
