Together with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Age Concern offers free Staying Safe: Refresher Courses for Older Drivers to assist you feel safe and confident on the road. The course is an opportunity for people to be confident their knowledge of traffic rules and safe driving practices is up to date.

It is a fun course that is run in a friendly and relaxed environment with other older drivers. It includes the latest information like:
✅Licence renewal for those aged over 74
✅ Roundabout signaling
✅The Top of the T goes before me rule
✅ Blind spots
✅Sharing the road with cyclists

Older drivers no longer face routine cognitive screening based on age alone
Some questions in dementia tests previously required for older drivers were “quite silly” but others could even trip up younger people, an elderly driver reckons.
