Great South Established in 2019, Great South is Southland's regional development agency. So here we are and we're looking forward to making the South GREAT!

Focused on creating better lives through sustainable development Great South is committed to creating a contemporary, connected and competitive Southland region. Here at Great South, we’re focused on our people and ensuring that the place we all so proudly call home is continuing to grow and develop. Our story to get to this point stretches back to 2014 when the Southland Mayoral forum initiated the development of the Southland Regional Development Strategy, a high level, integrated strategy intended to unify regional development. One of the recommendations from this work was the establishment of a regional development agency who would lead and oversee the actions identified in the strategy.

Thanks to proceeds from our office snack box, the team recently enjoyed a coffee shout from The Batch Cafe.

Rather than reaching for disposable cups, everyone brought along a Great South reusable cup, cutting down on single-use waste while supporting a local business.

A simple change, a great coffee, and one less thing heading to landfill. Win-win.
