Whether its whale oil lamps or candles - the world wanted light!
Attracted by southern right whales migrating past Kaikōura, after arriving in 1842 Robert Fyfe eventually shipped 1000's of barrels of oil from the 'Waiopuka Fishery' his whaling station located in what is known today as 'Armers Bay'.
Reflecting on this we are fortunate to be able to run a series of small candle making workshops exploring the world of wax, soy and bee wax candles supported by a Creative Communities grant. Interested? Get in touch and we will add you to our events email list to keep you informed!
