Last weekend we completed our level 2 lines re evaluation. A big thank you to the trainers from timaru who came up for it. It is very important we have this capability to perform line rescue with the steep terrain we have in our area.

A busy year for the Methven Volunteer Fire Brigade in 2025.
This year we have had 95 call outs. From building fires, car crashes, multiple wind/weather related calls and even a dog stuck down a cliff.
We held our centennial celebrations on kings birthday weekend which included an open day which the public supported well. We had activities for the kids and displays from the water ways team and car cutting.
Scott Alison received his gold star for 25 years service to the Hokitika and methven communities. Having done most of his time in Hokitika, he was awarded it there. A few of us traveled over the hill to be part of his night and enjoyed the excellent Hokitika hospitality.
Mark Brown, Rob Markillie and Gary Sheridan all completed their officers training course. Shane Stockdil completed his qualifed firefighter course. Mitch Pannet and Kayla Dynes completed their recruits course to become firefighters.

Happy New Year from the Methven Volunteer Fire Brigade
