Please read our Online Community Standards: https://www.ashburtondc.govt.nz/about-this-site/online-community-standards Community Boards are constituted under Section 49 of the Local Government Act 2002 to:
• Represent and act as an advocate for the interests of the community.
• consider and report on any matter referred to it by the territorial local authority,
and any issues of interest to the

community board.
• Make an annual submission to the territorial local authority on expenditure in the local authority.
• maintain an overview of services provided by the territorial authority within the community.
• Communicate with community organisations and special interest groups in the community, and undertake any other responsibilities delegated by the local authority. Disclaimer: Not all of the views or comments that are posted by the Board are necessarily the views of each individual board member.

Your voice matters. All formal feedback is read, considered, and helps inform our decisions. We know people sometimes feel decisions are already made but this effort is a genuine opportunity to influence outcomes, and community input can and does shape the final decisions.

Our hearings and deliberations are also livestreamed, so you can see and hear councillors working through and incorporating the feedback in real time (see screenshot below of recent deliberations).

A quick note: while we appreciate discussion on Facebook, submissions are the best way to have your views fully considered. Submissions are recorded, analysed, and reported to councillors as part of the decision-making process, while Facebook comments are not.
