Our first exhibition of 2026 - and you won’t want to miss it!
Canterbury-based artist Tash Sim specialises in bespoke glass sculptures, stained glass, and art pieces made from recycled materials.
As a child Tash always loved colour and nature and would often build creations with whatever bits I could find lying around.
“My builder dad would often say, "get a trade, you can go anywhere in the world.
“So, when a job for an apprentice glazier was advertised in the paper, I was curious,
"Dad, what is a Glazier? I asked.
"I think it’s with glass", he replied, which piqued her interest.
Tash got the job over 12 other boys, and I was told she was the first female glazier in New Zealand.
She fell in love with the trade and wanted to learn everything about glass, especially the creative side of it.
Her inspiration comes a lot from nature and my experiences in life, telling stories in glass and using recycled pieces where possible to add to the stories.
“I love the way glass speaks to me, through light and reflection, and I hope to share my passion for glass with the world.”
On for the month of March.
