ABOUT US

With a support base of more than 550 members, the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce has a wealth of expertise at its finger tips and is the best vehicle for connecting business people across the region. We are independent of local and central government as we are funded by businesses to be accountable to our membership. Each year we host more than 80 events (that's a lot!), which members get free or subsidised entry to. From business training seminars, networking functions, luncheons, the Aspire Conference and annual Business Awards - there is something for everyone. Celebrating local business success is a large part of what we do. In addition to our annual Business Awards, we promote member businesses through our social media channels, website, weekly email newsletter and STRONG eMagazine. Members get discounted advertising rates in chamber publications. They are also entitled to discounts with a range of local national retailers and free business mentoring sessions.

Last night we hosted our 'Welcome to Your Chamber' new member event at Mahitahi Colab in Tasman.

It was a fantastic space to connect with our new members, welcome those wanting to learn more about the Chamber, and catch up with a few familiar faces.

A big thank you to Matt Stringer and JAS Accounting & Advisory for helping us put these events on, and to everyone who came along.

As businesses face more frequent disruption and uncertainty, building resilience and preparing for change has never been more important.

The Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) is delivering “Adapting to Change” workshops for Te Tauihu businesses, facilitated by Chamber member, Katrina Kidson. These valuable and practical sessions will help businesses strengthen resilience, improve continuity planning and build confidence for whatever comes next.

Have you heard? A new Government-backed initiative is helping Te Tauihu businesses build resilience and prepare for change.

We are proud to be delivering a series of fully funded workshops across our region as part of the Regional Business Partner Network’s new business resilience programme, supported by Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.

Are you an SME, business owner, founder, senior manager or know someone who could benefit? These practical sessions will give you the tools to strengthen continuity planning, respond to uncertainty and build ‘people’ and ‘business’ confidence for the future. We are delighted that Katrina Kidson experienced facilitator and business coach, will facilitate these sessions.

As we witness more frequent business shocks, whether it’s COVID or natural disasters or geopolitical issues or the recent fuel crisis, our 'Adapting to Change' workshops will teach practical tools to future-proof your business.

Free to attend. Practical. Built for businesses. Spaces are limited…will go fast!

Last night we hosted our first Young Chamber Network event at Culture Beer House.

Thank you to everyone who came along. It was great to see everyone meeting new people, making connections, and building their networks.

A huge thank you to Mason Fitzgerald, who shared his journey and insights into becoming Chief Executive of Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve, and reminded us that leadership isn’t always a straight path. It’s built through taking opportunities, backing yourself, learning along the way, and staying open to where the journey might lead.

We’ll be hosting more events like this, and we also have some learning sessions coming up. Find out more and register here: https://www.commerce.org.nz/events/category/young-chamber

Or if you want to us to let you know about upcoming events, subscribe to the Young Chamber mailing list: https://www.commerce.org.nz/membership/young-chamber-subscribe

We're excited to have Kerensa Johnston, Trustee of Te Here-ā-Nuku | Making the Tenths Whole Trust, and Jeremy Banks, CEO of Wakatū Incorporation, at ASPIRE 2026.

They will join our MC J***y O'Donnell to discuss the Nelson Tenths, and the years of dedication which resulted in the historic resolution agreement being signed with the Crown in December 2025, returning land and providing compensation to the descendants of the original owners.

You can read more about this historic settlement here: https://tehereanuku.nz/hugely-positive-agreement-in-long-standing-private-property-case/

We're looking forward to diving into what this means for the region, and what work will be happening in this space.

Don't miss this important conversation at Aspire 2026.
