The Waitaki Whitestone UNESCO Global Geopark tells the story of our whenua, our land and its people.

We welcome conversation and debate on our social media pages. However, we expect social media users to be tolerant and respectful of all people. • are deliberate lies or attempts to mislead. While we cannot review all comments for accuracy, we reserve the right to reject comments we consider, on the balance of probability, inadvertent or deliberate falsehood;
• impersonate an individual or organization, are fraudulent, defamatory of any person, threatening or invasive of another’s privacy or otherwise illegal;
• are trolling or threatening or represent an on-going negative dialogue offering little value to the conversation;
• advocate or endorse violence, vigilantism or law breaking;
violate the law or breach court-ordered suppressions or have the potential to breach future suppressions; or
• constitute a contempt of court or that contain details of cases and individuals before the courts;
• breach the Human Rights Act, 1993 or the Harmful Digital Communications Act, 2015. We reserve the right to ban people from our pages who make such comments at any time.

We are so THRILLED to have our new Geopark Map installed in the Grainstore in the heart of the Oamaru Heritage Precinct.

Good to see the first visitor Daniel from Sydney exploring what there is to offer.

It might be winter, but we are going to be doing some spring-cleaning next Saturday. The plan is to tidy up the Share Shed and the Gaol................ oh, and anything else that looks like it might need some tlc.

It doesn’t matter how chilly it is outside there are always families inside enjoying the newly refurbished Museum of the Vanished World.

Two families all the way from Texas and China visiting on the same afternoon this week.

What better thing is there to do on a Winters afternoon than see incredible marine fossils and learn more about the geological heritage of this amazing UNESCO Geopark.

Oasis is a wonderful haven where you will find an extraordinary collection of paintings and rare books that tell the story of the Geopark.
