⚡There is currently a low voltage issue on our Ohau main feeder supply. We recommend turning off all sensitive electronics where possible.

Our field team are working to repair it, and at this stage we anticipate the power to be fully restored by 11pm.

Please treat all wires as LIVE as normal power supply could be restored at any time, and as a precaution, please ensure all your sensitive equipment is switched off at the wall.

🎉 A huge congratulations to Lewis, Toby and Jakob! Over the last two weeks, three of our trainee line mechanics (plus another four from other EDBs) have received training which was lead by Paul Allan from Mita Consulting LTD out at our Airedale site.

On Friday they all completed their assessment and attended their graduation ceremony and are now qualified linesmen! 🥳

Well done team! We are proud of your achievements and the hard work that you've all put in.

Jakob has followed in his dad Nathan's footsteps, making this a proud moment for both the family and Network Waitaki.

We love seeing our team take on new challenges and continue building their skills, and we're committed to supporting their growth through ongoing training and development.

Our field team is working to repair it, and at this stage we anticipate the power will be restored in the next hour and a half (approximately 1pm). We will update this post when it is restored.

Update re Ohau outage - 12.02pm: We have been advised that power has been restored. If you are still experiencing an outage please call 0800 440 220 to let us know.

⚡There is currently an unplanned power outage affecting some properties in the Ohau area due to some emergency repair work that needs to be carried out.

We estimate that power should be restored in an hour (by about 12.45pm)

⚡Out with the (very) old and in with the new! ⚡

Our crews are busy year-round maintaining and upgrading our network to keep power flowing across the region.

We recently replaced this power pole which has stood proudly in place for more than 60 years, and the transformer attached after 40 years of service.

While they have both served the community well for decades, all network equipment eventually reaches the end of its working life. Replacing ageing assets before they fail is an important part of our job keeping the lights on and helping to prevent unplanned outages.

From power poles and power lines to transformers and substations, we're constantly investing in our network to ensure it remains safe, reliable, and ready for the future. Every repair, replacement, and upgrade helps strengthen the network our community relies on every day⚡

⚡There is currently an unplanned power outage in the Pukeuri area which has been caused by a tree on powerlines.

Our crews are on their way to carry out repair work, and will have power restored as quickly and safely as possible.
