Growing Together Across the Generations 💛

On Monday, we had the joy of welcoming our wonderful grandparents for a very special morning tea.

Our classrooms were filled with smiles, laughter, stories, and love as we shared our learning, proudly showed our work, and enjoyed reading books together. The time spent together was a beautiful reminder of the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren and the wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love they bring to our lives.

Did you know that Grandparents Day is celebrated on the feast day of Saints Anne and Joachim, the parents of Mary (Jesus' mum) and the grandparents of Jesus? Their example reminds us of the important role grandparents play in passing on faith, love, and family traditions from one generation to the next.

To all our grandparents, thank you for your time, your love, and your presence. Your support means so much to our children and our school community. We are truly blessed to have shared this special morning with you and to celebrate the precious gift of grandparents.

This Sunday, 26th July, is World Grandparents Day, and we'd love to celebrate the special grandparents and grandparent figures in our school community!
💛 Join us for our Grandparents' Morning Tea

Grandparents play such an important role in the lives of our tamariki, sharing wisdom, love, and support across generations. We look forward to welcoming them into our school to celebrate the difference they make every day.

📣 Let's support our fellow rural school! 🎾💚

At small rural schools, we know how much community support means. Cannington School is currently running an Online Fundraiser Auction to raise funds for a new tennis court surface upgrade – a fantastic community asset that will benefit students and families for years to come.
There are some great items up for grabs, so why not have a browse, place a bid, and support a worthy cause at the same time?
As rural schools, we are stronger when we support one another. Every bid helps make a difference! 🌟

🌟 Matariki Celebration at School 🌟
As Matariki falls during the school holidays this year, we’ll be celebrating together at school on Friday 3rd July!
Our whānau are warmly invited to join us for a Matariki Breakfast from 8:15am. We would love to see you there 😊
Our tamariki have been busy learning about Matariki and creating some wonderful work. They would love to show you around their classrooms and share their learning with you.
🍽 Breakfast will include sausages, hash browns, toast, Weet-Bix, and hot Milo.
We hope you can join us for this special time together 💫

🌱 A big thank you to The Landscape Depot Timaru 🌱
We are incredibly grateful to The Landscape Depot Timaru for their generous donation of 1 cubic metre of BioGro organic compost.
Thanks to their support, our students have been busy planting strawberries 🍓 and garlic 🧄 — and we’re already looking forward to seeing (and tasting!) the results of their hard work.
Opportunities like this help bring learning to life and encourage our students to connect with the environment in meaningful ways.
