🌟 Facing Fear & Finding Inspiration! 🌟

On Tuesday, our amazing Year 7–8 students headed to Christchurch for the National Young Leaders Day (NYLD)! This year's powerful theme was "Fear"—specifically, how we can use it as a driver for growth, resilience, and positive change. šŸš€

Our future leaders heard from an incredible lineup of inspiring speakers who have mastered the art of stepping outside their comfort zones:
šŸ“š Best-selling author Graci Kim
🦈 Marine scientist Riley Elliott ("The Shark Man")
šŸ§— Adventurer & innovator William Pike
šŸ“¢ Young advocate Lola Fisher
šŸ’¼ Social entrepreneur Julia Pahina

The day left our students feeling incredibly motivated. Here is what some of them had to take away from the experience:

🌱 From Farm to Table – Real‑World Learning in Action! 🫐
As part of our inquiry into ā€œFrom Farm to Tableā€, we were incredibly fortunate to visit ViBERi today to learn about how blackcurrants are grown, harvested, and processed using modern technology.
Students gained valuable insights into the journey of food production—from the farm through to the finished product—seeing first‑hand the innovation behind a local success story.
A definite highlight was sampling the products straight from the line… a very special treat! šŸ˜‹
Thank you to the team at ViBERi for your warm welcome and for sharing your knowledge with us. We feel so lucky to have such an amazing, world‑class health product right on our doorstep.

This open meeting is a great opportunity to re‑engage with the PTA, or, if you are new to our school, to enjoy a meet-and-greet and learn how the PTA works, its plans for the rest of the year, and how you may be able to help. Nibbles and informal chat will begin at 3:00 pm- 3.30 pm, followed by the PTA meeting.

Community Call‑Out: Help Our Year 8s Build a Children’s Book Exchange
Our Year 8 students have come up with an excellent idea to support our community. They would like to build a children’s book exchange to encourage reading and sharing for younger children.
To help make this project a reality, we are seeking support from our wider community. If you are a grandparent or community member who has time, skills, or experience and could help source materials or assist with building the structure, we would love to hear from you.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work alongside our students, share skills, and support a meaningful, student‑led project.
If you can help, please contact the school at 036147202 or email [email protected]. We would love to have you on board supporting our Year 8 students.
