🌿 ROOMS 1, 3 & 5 TAKE ON THE BURIED VILLAGE! 🌿

Today it was Rooms 1, 3 and 5’s turn to head out to the Buried Village, and what a cool day they had!

Our tamariki have been learning lots this term about our local area and its history, so it was awesome to see them taking that learning outside the classroom and putting it into a real-life context. There’s nothing quite like actually being in the places you’ve been learning about! 🌋

The dark clouds looked pretty menacing at times, but everyone braved the weather and made the most of the day. ☁️😄

They finished off their adventure with a picnic lunch together at the playground — a pretty great way to end a very cool day of learning, exploring and spending time together.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the trip possible. Another awesome experience for our Sunset tamariki! 💙💛

🏉🏐 Inter-School Sports Exchange 🏐🏉

A huge thank you to Rotokawa School for hosting us for another awesome inter-school sports exchange today!

Our rugby league team and netball team headed out to Rotokawa, and what a great afternoon it was. Incredibly, both games finished in a draw — a pretty fitting way to finish two really evenly matched games!

We were so proud of our tamariki. There was some absolutely awesome play, great sportsmanship, and plenty of smiles. It’s always so good seeing our kids happy, giving it their all, and proudly representing Sunset. 💙

Thanks again to Rotokawa School for having us and for making us feel so welcome.

🎨✨ What an awesome morning at Rotorua Intermediate School! ✨🎨

This morning, 20 of our Year 6 tamariki had the opportunity to head along to the Rotorua Intermediate Wearable Arts Show — and they absolutely loved it!

There were some incredible creations on display, but our kids were also blown away by the entertainment. The band was a huge hit, the singing was awesome, and there were plenty of smiles throughout the morning. 🎶👏

A massive thank you to everyone at Rotorua Intermediate School for the invitation and for putting on such a fantastic event. Our tamariki thoroughly enjoyed themselves and came back to school buzzing!

For many of them, Rotorua Intermediate will be their school next year, so it was another great chance to get a taste of what they have to look forward to.

And who knows… maybe in a year or two, we’ll be heading along to watch some former Sunset tamariki taking the stage in the Wearable Arts themselves! 🌟

🌿 Room 4 & 6 Visit the Buried Village! 🌿

What an amazing day Room 4 and Room 6 had exploring the Buried Village today!

It was awesome to see our tamariki taking so much of what they have been learning about in class and then being able to see it come to life in the actual environment. They were full of questions, making connections and soaking up the history and stories of our local area.
These are the experiences that make learning so meaningful for our kids — getting out of the classroom, exploring our own backyard and connecting their learning to real places and real stories.

A wonderful trip and a fantastic day! A huge thank you to everyone involved in making today possible and giving our tamariki another memorable learning experience. ❤️

🌟 Our tamariki are just amazing! 🌟

We’re always so proud of how willing our kids are to lend a hand and go the extra mile to help look after our kura.

Today, Matua Kirk had a special job for our Room 10 tamariki. He needed to mow the grass on the hill, but first all the loose flax needed to be picked up because it gets stuck in the mower.

When he asked Room 10 if they could give him a hand, they thought it sounded like great fun and jumped at the chance! 💪🌿

It was awesome to see our tamariki working together, helping Matua Kirk and being true kaitiaki of our kura. ❤️

Sometimes it’s the little things that show just how special our kids are. Ka mau te wehi, Room 10! 👏
