Dg class locomotive number 770 leading its sister loco Dg 791 up to the top of the 10km climb from Waipara.
Dg 770 has had a $50,000 engine overhaul in the last year and is looking and running fantastic.

Next Running Day - SUNDAY 21ST JUNE ❄️

After our successful running day this month, we are looking forward to our next operating day on the railway in June! Hauled behind either one or two of our 1950’s diesel electric locomotives, take a trip back in time to the glory days of rail travel in the countryside with the family and friends. Usual train departure times from Glenmark Station, Waipara at 11:30am & 2:00pm for a 2 hour return trip to Waikari. 🚂

To supplement seats on our trains, Steam Incorporated’s Aa 1071 will feature on our trains over the winter months. This carriage is from a different era from our 1930’s A class steel carriages we use, being even older from the 1900’s, featuring open end balconies which passengers are allowed to enjoy the ride from! This carriage is normally part of the Marlborough Flyer consist used over the summer months between Picton & Seddon and we are grateful for our friends at Steam Inc in allowing us to use it while it is at our railway over the winter. 🤝

We’re ready for today’s public trains!!! 🚂☀️🍂

Thanks to our friends at Steam Incorporated, we have the addition of carriage Aa 1071, a rare feature on our train with open end balcony’s at both ends! 🤝

Plenty of tickets available for our 2:00pm departure from Glenmark station, no pre-booking required just turn up and purchase tickets from the ticket office! 🎟️

WE ARE RUNNING tomorrow May 17!!!
Departures 11:30am and 2pm from Glenmark Station Waipara.
The weather looks to be clear and blue as we would expect in wine country.

Very busy day for the track team today. The never ending job of replacing sleepers continues, another 14 new sleepers installed @ $70 each +GST!!!!! We are lucky to work in areas with such stunning scenery!!
Come and support us by riding the passenger train.
Running this Sunday 17 May at 11:30 and 2pm. Then no trains for one month.
