For those asking about A 428, our resident steam locomotive… we have now started the first phase of the restoration project, investigating what is needed to bring the ‘A’ back into steam, which will be a very long and expensive exercise! 🚂

A busy day at the railway today, with Diesel Traction Group’s De 512 hauling a charter train in the morning. The charter is seen crossing Dg 770 at Glenmark station, awaiting to head up the straight with a work train in preparation for a week of upcoming track work along the railway! ⚒️

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s passenger trains departing Glenmark at 11:30am & 2:00pm, book online to secure your seats or turn up to our ticket office at Glenmark station on the day. 🚂

Our Fathers Day afternoon passenger service returning to Glenmark Station Waipara today through the stunning Weka Pass scenery. A gloomy wet day but the open car was still well used with some enthusiastic passengers who didn’t mind some precipitation.
Come join us on 20 September for the 25kilometre round trip journey.
11:30 and 2pm departures. Hopefully the sun is out!!! 🌞🌞🌞 (it usually is) 🚂🚂🚂

Whilst we are running today… yesterday evening at the Canterbury Railway Society, Dsa 276 our shunting locomotive on long term lease to Ferrymead was operating trains for the heritage park’s night market.

Busy day today at the railway. Investigation work is underway on A 428 💥 for its overhaul.

A track inspection after all of the wild wind and rain uncovered no defects, just great scenery!!! 👌🏼

The team working on security for the new welding workshop and the stunning daffodils in bloom at Waikari Station. 🌼🌼🌼

We are next running our passenger trains on Sunday 6th September and if you’re thinking of a gift for your dad on their special day, why not treat them to a leisurely train ride in the countryside? 👌🏼

Our trains of 1930’s carriages are hauled by one of our 1950’s diesel electric locomotives built in the United Kingdom between Glenmark and Waikari, a round trip of 24km’s in total over two hours. 🚂
