What a weekend! With fresh snow blanketing the Southern Alps, the skiing and riding was well and truly on! We hope you managed to get out and enjoy it.

We had several trips out in the mountains this weekend, making the most of the beautiful weather and fantastic conditions, including Yves from Jackson Hole!

His incredible four-day backcountry touring trip was topped off with a day skiing on the Tasman Glacier. What an adventure, thank you for joining us!

What a great turnout last night for our Avalanche Awareness Night! Thank you to Tom Willmott, Bianca from NZ Mountain Safety Council, and Taz from Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche New Zealand for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. It was great to see so many people taking an interest in avalanche education. We hope you learned something new for your next mountain adventure!

Through the two community nights we’ve hosted this winter, we’re stoked to have raised over $3,000 for Search and Rescue Dogs Avalanche New Zealand! Whether you donated by purchasing an event ticket, raffle ticket, and/or a b.effect drink, THANK YOU! Every little bit counts, and the money is going to such a great cause.

And of course, events like this would not be possible without the support of our amazing event partners: The North Face Australia & NZ, Backcountry Access, b.social taproom & eatery, and icebreaker, who generously donated the raffle prizes.

We’ve answered the call. This winter we are launching our first-ever Splitboard Series. This series is a collection of clinics and multi-day trips designed to meet you where you’re at on your splitboard journey and help you to take the next step in progression.

Each experience in this series is led by one of our certified NZMGA splitboard guides. The Series runs from August through to October - so you can join one, or take on the whole season. The ice climbing season is here, and it’s delivering! ⛏️❄️

Last week, guide and a keen group of clients headed into the mountains for an ice climbing trip based out of our remote hut on Black Peak.

The payoff of going remote? They had the ice to themselves, no queues, no crowds, just pure alpine solitude and a chance to spend plenty of time on the tools!
