A quick update on our upcoming talk 🎈

With winter illness doing the rounds and hitting so many Wānaka families hard this season, we've decided to postpone this event to give everyone the best chance to attend well and healthy.

The talk will now be held on Saturday 28th November at Luggate Hall, same time, same details. Existing tickets remain valid for the new date.

We’ve been doing a little toy shopping… but we’re handing the final decision over to you!👀

Watch our “This or That”video and check out some of the toys we’d LOVE to add to the Wānaka Toy Library, from small-world and imaginative play sets to bigger-ticket favourites like a trampoline, wagon and more.

🎟️ Come along to our Understanding Your Child & Parenting with Confidence fundraiser and you’ll get to vote for the toys you want us to purchase with the money raised!

🎈 UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHILD & PARENTING WITH CONFIDENCE🎈

The Wānaka Community Toy Library is excited to bring you a special morning with Alex Weehuizen from Precious Beginnings and First Five Years, talking about some of those everyday parenting challenges that so many of us navigate.

We’ll be covering:

🥦 Fussy eating
😴 Sleep
🤍 Separation anxiety
🧠 Understanding your child’s development

Whether you’re in the thick of toddlerhood, preparing for the next stage, or simply want to better understand what’s going on inside that busy little brain, this is a great opportunity to pick up practical advice and reassurance.

🐾 Learning through play at the Wānaka Toy Library!🐄🐑🐴

Through animal care and role play in the yard, children are doing so much more than simply playing.

Feeding, caring for and looking after their pretend animals helps little ones explore the world around them, practise empathy and kindness, build confidence, develop communication skills, and learn how to play alongside others. 🌱💛

It’s amazing how much learning can happen through a little imagination, a few toy animals and some good old-fashioned play!

Come in and discover all the ways our toys can help spark creativity, connection and learning through play. 🧸✨

🧸 Help Us Plan a Toy Library Fundraiser!🧸

The Wānaka Toy Library is exploring the idea of hosting a special fundraising event for members and non-members with Alex from precious beginnings as our guest speaker focused on toddlers, parenting, and supporting local families.

Funds raised would help us purchase more toys for our growing collection. It would also be a great opportunity to meet other parents, learn more about the Toy Library, and welcome new members into our community.

To help us plan an event that works for local families, we’ve created a quick Google Form where you can let us know:

📅 Which days of the week suit you best
⏰ Whether you would prefer a morning, afternoon, or evening event
💬 Which toddler or parenting topics you would like discussed

Topics could include toddler behaviour, sleep, feeding, speech and development, toilet training, starting preschool, parental wellbeing, or anything else you’re navigating in the wonderfully wild world of raising small humans!

📍We’re also beginning to explore options for a new Toy Library location. Please come along to discuss, let us know if you have, or know of, suitable land, a building, or a potential community space.

We would also love to connect with local tradies, businesses, or community members who may be able to offer skills, materials, advice, or support with things such as electrical work, building, landscaping, or fit-out work.

Toy Focus 🧸🪀

📣 Our balance board encourages full body control, core strength, spatial awareness and foot eye coordination.

This supports our vestibular system which helps us to sit still and eye tracking.

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki ✨

Kia ora Wānaka Toy Library whānau,

We will be open tomorrow, Friday 10th July, for our usual hours.

Matariki is a special time in Aotearoa to gather with whānau, reflect, reset, and enjoy time together, and what better way for our tamariki to celebrate than with fresh toys, puzzles, games, and a little playroom magic for the long weekend. 🌟🧸

Pop in, swap your toys, and stock up on some fun for the holiday.

🔍 Toy Piece Treasure Hunt! 🧩🚗🛋️

We’re asking all Wānaka Toy Library members to have a quick look under couches, car seats, beds and in toy boxes for any missing pieces that may have wandered off on an adventure.

We’re looking for pieces from:

🧩 Puzzles
🧱 Duplo sets
🏡 Imaginative play sets
🎲 Games and activity sets and anything else that maybe taking a break under the couch 😁

Even the smallest piece can make a big difference in completing a set for the next family to enjoy.

Any lost pieces can be returned to the Wanaka Toy Library during opening hours.

Thanks for helping us reunite our toys with their missing friends! 💛
