The beauty and richness of Cebu City’s biodiversity take center stage as the Cebu City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO), through the efforts of its Urban Biodiversity Management Unit, opens the 4th Cebu City Flora and Fauna Photography Exhibit at the Cebu City Legislative Building, today.

The exhibit showcases the remarkable winning photos of flora and fauna found within the city, highlighting the importance of appreciating, protecting, and preserving Cebu City’s natural heritage.

Through these photographs, we are reminded that nature thrives even within an urban landscape and that protecting our native biodiversity is a shared responsibility.

So, come and witness the beauty of Cebu City’s natural treasures, captured through the lenses of passionate photographers.

Nakatala og dakong kalampusan ang programa sa pagdumala sa basura sa Panggamhanan sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo pinaagi sa BAGSAKAN SRP.

Sukad sa pagsugod sa operasyon niini miadtong Marso 23, 2026, ang maong pasilidad nakapakunhod na og 35 hangtod 40 ka toneladang basura matag adlaw. Kini opisyal nga gilunsad niadtong Hunyo 6, 2026, subay sa sa World Environment Day, nga gipangulohan ni Mayor Nestor Archival kauban ang nagkalain-laing sektor sa komunidad.

Dako usab ang pag-ila ug pagpasalamat sa dedikasyon ug pagsakripisyo sa mga sakop sa CESET (Cebu City Environmental Sanitation and Enforcement Team) ug BEO (Barangay Environmental Officers) nga isip usa sa manpower diin magmintinar sa kaayohan sa BAGSAKAN SRP.

Aron mas mapalig-on pa kini ang maong inisyatibo ug mamintinar ang kaayohan sa palibot, , gipahinumdoman ug gihangyo ang tanang Sugboanon sa pagbuhat sa sakto nga waste segregation ug pagpraktis sa 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) sa matag panimalay.

𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗥𝗢 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

Building directly on the technical framework from the JICA Comprehensive Sewerage Masterplan training in Japan, the CCENRO Septage Team presented its staff development strategy to Mayor Nestor Archival, securing his approval to proceed with local technical capacity building.

While initial implementation begins in Mandaue City as a priority zone, CCENRO is moving ahead with staff development to guarantee operational readiness, proper technical coordination, and effective wastewater management once the project rolls out to the entire Metro Cebu.

The Cebu City Government, represented by the Cebu City Environment & Natural Resources Office (CCENRO) is proud to have partnered with DENR EMB 7 for a pivotal discussion on rehabilitating the Butuanon River. The event oriented business stakeholders on:

✅ Process Permitting: Ensuring business compliance.
✅ The Adopt-an-Estero / Water Body Program: An initiative where businesses take the lead in rehabilitating specific sections of a water body.

Our team presented Cebu City's current initiatives and challenges, and we are grateful for this platform. This event is a vital channel for us to collaborate directly with the business community, providing guidance on how they can contribute to the rehabilitation and sustainable management of the Butuanon River.

Let's rehabilitate our river, one adopted section at a time!

Mangroves are not just trees that grow within the coastal areas of our city, they are the Number 1 Guardians of our coast providing us many ecosystem services (food security, biodiversity support, major blue carbon storage, strong typhoon winds and coastal erosion protection, climate and water quality regulation, and livelihood).

This International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, let's get to know the city's initiatives in conserving our majestic and strong mangrove forest. These initiatives not just aim to protect our mangrove forest, but also to boost community participation for a stronger conservation of our mangrove forest. Additionally, the city remains to commit in protecting, preserving, and conserving it for the present and future generations.

The Cebu City Government, through the Cebu City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CCENRO), officially launched the Balik Bote Program in partnership with San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) and San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation (SMYPC), marking another step toward strengthening the city's environmental sustainability initiatives.

‎The program formally opened with a welcome message from Brgy. Luz Councilor, Ma. Nida Cabrera, followed by the presentation of the program rationale by CCENRO Department Head Editha Peros. Cebu City Councilor Hon. Joel Garganera also delivered a message emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting proper waste management.

‎Mr. Roy G. Jagmoc, representative from San Miguel Brewery Inc., then presented the mechanism of the Balik Bote Program, explaining how residents can participate in the initiative. Under the program, San Miguel Brewery Inc. will accept San Miguel glass bottles and provide participants with a corresponding cash refund.
‎
‎Mr. Jagmoc also expressed his gratitude to the Cebu City Government for its support and to the 10 pilot barangays for their commitment to the program. He likewise encouraged the remaining barangays to take part in the initiative as it expands.

This flagship initiative champions environmental stewardship through the recovery and recycling of glass and bottles, reinforcing our shared commitment to a cleaner and greener Cebu City.
