Taysan Legazpi City, which involved a vehicular accident.

One patient, found unconscious and incoherent, was properly extricated. He was safely transported to BRHMC for further evaluation and management.

BFP, CIDG arrests Fire Officer over 500k Recruitment Scam

The Bureau of Fire Protection, in a joint operation with the Philippine National Police (PNP) through its Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), apprehended a BFP personnel allegedly involved in the P500K โ€œSlot-for-Saleโ€ Recruitment Scam.

The entrapment operation stemmed when the victim reported the suspect contacted via Facebook Messenger using a dummy account. Acting quickly, BFP Region 3, led by Acting Regional Director FSSUPT Bernard T Rosete, in coordination with PNP-CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 set up the operation through a series of meetings between the victim and the suspect.

During the initial meeting, the suspect showed a BFP ID, and claimed to have sold slots in other regions before demanding the P500,000 fee. The applicant agreed on a partial initial payment of P300,000 setting the entrapment operation.

During the succeeding meeting, the CIDG and BFP operatives caught the suspect on site during the exchange of the marked money.

BFP Officer-in-Charge FCSUPT Wilberto Rico Neil A Kwan Tiu said in a statement that the BFP remains committed to a strict and fair hiring process. โ€œWe do not tolerate corruption within our ranks. Continuously working with the PNP, we will ensure anyone who exploits our aspiring applicants will face the law.โ€ FCSUPT Kwan Tiu said. โ€œWe will hold our personnel accountable for their actions.โ€ He added.

The BFP, through the โ€œOPLAN SANTINDIG,โ€ conducts an anti-extortion campaign on recruitment, promotions and transfers to ensure integrity within its ranks. Applicants are reminded that payment is not required to gain entry in the BFP, and application is strictly based on merit and fitness.

Thereafter, a certificate of commendation was awarded to the LCFS personnel who successfully organized and facilitated the conduct of the 2nd Urban Fire Olympics - Barangay Category held on August 11, 2026 at Sawangan Park, Dap-Dap Legazpi City. The certificate was received by SFO4 Garry A Santander, Deputy Fire Marshal, on behalf of the others.

Fire suppression personnel and the investigation team immediately proceeded to the said location.
The fire had already been extinguished by the concerned neighbors prior to the team's arrival. The responding personnel then conducted overhauling operations at the area.

๐ˆ๐ ๐๐‡๐Ž๐“๐Ž๐’โ•‘Under the leadership of ๐…๐‚๐’๐”๐๐“ ๐‰๐”๐๐ˆ๐“๐Ž ๐… ๐Œ๐€๐’๐‹๐€๐๐†, ๐ƒ๐’๐‚, Regional Director, and direct supervision of ๐…๐’๐”๐๐“ ๐‰๐„๐‘๐ˆ๐‚๐Š๐’๐Ž๐ ๐ ๐Œ๐ˆ๐‘๐€๐…๐‹๐Ž๐‘, ๐ƒ๐’๐‚, Provincial Fire Marshal, Albay, headed by ๐…๐’๐ˆ๐๐’๐ ๐Œ๐‚ ๐Š๐„๐•๐ˆ๐ ๐“ ๐Œ๐€๐‘๐๐”๐„๐’๐„๐’, ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‚๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐…๐ข๐ซ๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ฅ, the EMS team of Legazpi City Fire Station responded to three different incidents last Saturday night from barangays Taysan, Imalnod and Homapon.

All patients were found conscious and coherent. Appropriate wound care and initial assessment were rendered by our personnel. They were safely transported to Hospitals for further evaluation and management.
