During the 39th Araw Ng Purok New Tuburan, Gulayan Sa Barangay grand slam champion municipal level and regional awardee Punong Barangay Anita Quinte of Brgy. San Isidro, Lupon, Davao Oriental encouraged her constituents to plant vegetables in their backyards amidst the ongoing crisis due to high oil prices and high inflation.

"Magtanom ta ug Gulay Arun aduna Tay kakuhaan ug PAGkaon sa atong nataran. Dili na bulang Ang ibutang sa MGA guba nga Balde kundili Gulay na" she added.

Brgy San Isidro's Gulayan Sa Barangay sustained since it started in 2019. It even became one of the main sources of food for Barangay health workers and quarantined individuals in the barangay with symptoms of COVID-19 during the pandemic and for the constituents nearby.

Now, it still continues to inspire individuals to grow their own healthy food in their home. It survived during pandemic and will sustain even in the middle of new crisis.

GOOD NEWS OUR DEAR COCONUT FARMERS!
We are pleased to inform you that last March 30, 2026, the signing of ‎Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Coconut Hybridization Program (CHP) - Communal Nursery Establishment @ Maragatas, Lupon, Davao Oriental was conducted .
‎
‎ The MOA was signed by Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Davao Oriental, Acting Division Chief, Leah Caballero and Acting Senior Agriculturist, Jonelito Vicente Jr, together with Municipal Agriculturist of Lupon, Davao Oriental Renante L. Prudente and Barangay Captain, Beverly Rebalde. ‎The activity was witnessed by the Brgy Councilor committee on Agriculture, Marivic Prudente and Functionaries, Brgy Assigned Technician, Jacob Elizer Clapano and Maragatas Farmers Association (MAFA) President, Rodeno Papuran. Through the efforts of Ms. Meraflor Florida - CDO Lupon.

🌱 Turn-Over of Agricultural Inputs for Gulayan sa Bayan Program 🌱

Malampusong gipahigayon ang turn-over sa mga agricultural inputs alang sa Gulayan sa Bayan Program nga gipondohan sa HVCDP Region XI, pinaagi sa inisyatibo sa Local Government Unit of Lupon ubos sa liderato ni Mayor Santos Q. Alonzo Jr., kauban ang Municipal Agriculture Office (MAGRO). Kini nga kalihokan kabahin sa padayon nga paningkamot sa lokal nga gobyerno sa pagpalig-on sa food security, urban gardening, ug panginabuhian sa komunidad.

Ang mga maong inputs gidawat sa Pangkabuhayan sa mga Kababaihan tungo sa Kaunlaran ng ating Agricultura at Pangisdaang Pamayanan Association (PKKAPPA) nga gipangulohan ni Chairman Ester B. Patarata. Ang organisasyon naglangkob sa mga kababaihan nga aktibong nag-apil sa mga programa sa agrikultura ug pangisdaan aron mapalambo ang produksyon sa pagkaon ug madugangan ang panginabuhian sa ilang mga pamilya ug komunidad.

This activity also serves as an advance celebration of Women’s Month, recognizing the vital role of women in fisheries, entrepreneurship, and community development. 💜

Present during the event were from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)represented by Antonette Portillano- Provincial Monitoring and Evaluation Officer-SLP Davao Oriental, BFAR – Provincial Fisheries Officer Davao Oriental - Jefferson Montera, SB Committee on Fisheries – Hon. On January 23, 2026, the 5 days retooling training course on Hybrid Rice Cytoplasmic Male Sterility (CMS) Seed Production and Seed Certification For SL Agritech Corporation Seed Growers was successfully conducted through the support of LGU Lupon, LGU Banaybanay, Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, BPI NSQCS-XI and DA RFO XI. This training refreshed the skills of SL Agritech's Personnel in Producing the best quality of rice seeds for the framers of the country and abroad.
