Butuan City - In celebration of National Migrant Workersโ Day, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Caraga Regional Office held the Balikbayan Para sa Balikbayang ManggagawaโNational Reintegration Network (BBM-NRN) Regional Fair 2026 on June 3, 2026, in Butuan City. The event, led by DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman, benefited more than 600 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families. The initiative underscored the government's ongoing commitment to supporting migrant workers as they transition back to their home communities after overseas employment.
The fair offered a comprehensive suite of reintegration services and financial support to empower attendees. Key activities included a Job Fair, a Serbisyo Fair, and a Post-Repatriation Orientation Seminar (PROS), along with a "Buy Lokal! by OFWs" showcase highlighting migrant entrepreneurship and business acumen. Additionally, 182 OFWs received direct livelihood assistance to help them establish or expand their businesses, strengthening their local income sources.
To ensure long-term, community-based support, the event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to establish OFW Help Desks across seven local government units and the formal recognition of PAG-ASA, an organization for OFW children at the Philippine Normal University - Mindanao. Participants also gained access to crucial programs in financial literacy, housing, digital technology, and social protection, made possible through collaborations with partner agencies, including DHSUD, DOST, DICT, Pag-IBIG Fund, and SSS. # # #
