The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected a total of P2.003 trillion from January to July 2026, surpassing the P1.990 trillion goal for the period by P13.53 billion or 0.68%.

The seven-month collection was also P102.60 billion higher than the same period last year, representing a 5.4% year-on-year growth.

Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza said the BIR has already collected around 60% of its full-year collection target for 2026, reflecting improving taxpayer compliance and the sustained collection efforts of the Revenue Regions, Revenue District Offices, and the Large Taxpayers Service.

โ€œWe remain guided by the Presidentโ€™s directive to make government services more accessible to taxpayers, and by Secretary Frederick Goโ€™s direction to make tax administration fairer and more efficient for businesses and investors,โ€ he added.

For the month of July alone, BIR gross collections reached P358.44 billion, exceeding the P336.07 billion monthly target by P22.37 billion, or 6.66%. July collections were also P19.41 billion higher than the same month last year, posting 5.73% year-on-year growth.

โ€œThese results show that better taxpayer service, clearer rules, and effective enforcement can support stronger compliance and collection,โ€ Commissioner Mendoza said.

Under its five-point reform agenda, BIR DARES, the Bureau continues to simplify tax rules and processes, expand digital services, improve taxpayer assistance, strengthen audit safeguards, and enforce tax laws against deliberate noncompliance. These reforms form part of the Bureauโ€™s broader effort to improve compliance while protecting the governmentโ€™s revenue base.

โ€œWe will continue helping taxpayers comply correctly and on time, while making sure that taxes properly due are collected fairly and efficiently,โ€ Commissioner Mendoza said.

Samantalang ang interest at surcharge na

Basic Tax:
Compromise Penalty:
Surcharge:
Interest:

Para sa threshold, โ‚ฑ75,000 lamang ang consideredโ€”โ‚ฑ60,000 basic tax + โ‚ฑ15,000 compromise penalty.

Upon payment of the required abatement fee and approval of the application, pati ang related interest at surcharge ay maaaring ma-cancel.

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) to expand access to quality healthcare through VAT-exempt medicines, Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Charlito Martin R. Mendoza reaffirmed the Bureau's commitment to faithfully implement tax laws and policies that deliver meaningful relief to Filipino families.

The issuance of Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 87-2026 updates the list of VAT-exempt medicines endorsed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the TRAIN Law and the CREATE Act, adding 14 medicines to bring the total number of VAT-exempt medicines to 2,277. The updated list further strengthens the government's efforts to make essential medicines more affordable and accessible to Filipinos.

As Commissioner Mendoza emphasized, the BIR remains committed to implementing responsive tax policies that uphold public welfare while advancing the Administration's vision of a healthier and more resilient Philippines.
