Project GABAY: Guiding Adolescents toward Better Awareness and Informed decision-making among Youth

Sibulan Primary Care Facility, in partnership with Silliman University Medical School, implements Project GABAY among Grade 7 students of Sibulan National High School. This aims to contribute to the reduction of teenage pregnancy in the Municipality of Sibulan through improved adolescent reproductive health knowledge and increased awareness and utilization of available Adolescent-Friendly health services.

This is important because it helps reduce unintended pregnancies and the long-term challenges that can follow—such as interrupted education, higher rates of poverty, and limited career opportunities. By providing teens with accurate information about reproductive health, contraception, and consent, these programs empower young people to make informed choices and build healthier relationships. It also connects participants with supportive services like counseling, mentorship, and access to healthcare, which can address underlying factors such as stress, lack of resources, or limited guidance. Overall, Project GABAY hopes to improve outcomes not only for teens and their families, but also for communities by strengthening future academic attainment, economic stability, and public health. ❤️

Friday, August 7, 2026.

Sibulan Primary Care Facility, with the Provincial Health Office, launched the Ligtas Tigdas Measles Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA). The activity was graced by Dr. Mohammed Reazul Hasan from the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Liland Zoila Estacion from the Provincial Health Office, and Ms. Carmela Rosales from the Department of Health Negros Island Region CHD.

This activity supplements vaccination against Measles and Rubella. Measles is a viral infection which may complicate to pneumonia, blindness, subacute subsclerosing panencephalitis, and even death. Rubella or German Measles is a viral infection that poses severe risks to developing fetuses if contracted during pregnancy.

Both of these diseases are vaccine preventable. We are encouring parents with children 6-69 months old to avail of these vaccines. These are not new vaccines, we have been using them for many years already. These vaccines are safe, effective, and free. Let us not spread fake news and fear.
