Nordic Ambassadors in Puerto Princesa: Dialogues on sustainability, security, and community resilience
The Nordic Ambassadors to the Philippines 🇵🇭 recently concluded their annual joint visit this time to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, hosted by Finland this year. The program brought together the four Ambassadors of Finland 🇫🇮, Sweden 🇸🇪, Denmark 🇩🇰, and Norway 🇳🇴 for exchanges with local government leaders, media, health and environmental advocates, and security stakeholders on issues ranging from sustainable development and public service delivery to community resilience, reproductive health, environmental protection and regional security.
During the trip, the Ambassadors paid courtesy visits to the Mayor of Puerto Princesa City, Lucilo "Cecil" Rodriguez Bayron, and the Governor of Palawan, Amy Roa Alvarez - Public Servant. The Ambassadors also had a working dinner with the WESCOM Commander to discuss regional security.
In addition to official meetings, the Ambassadors had a conversation with local reporters from Palawan News. They also met with Roots of Health advocacy for reproductive health and rights and learned about their important work in Puerto Princesa. Additionally, they visited Ms. Patty Ortega at PATIO Agritourism Park to get familiarized with her farm and work to support local farming communities. The visit concluded with a lunch and tour of the ALOHA farm and their organic farming.
The Ambassadors reinforced the Nordic countries’ shared commitment to dialogue, partnership, and inclusive development in the Philippines. Through meetings with local communities and institutions across Palawan, the Ambassadors strengthened cooperation and exchanged perspectives on governance, sustainability, and the role of local actors in building resilient and empowered communities.
