2-Days YABC Training – Day 1
The Disaster Risk Management Society (DRMS), Government College University (GCU), Lahore, in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), successfully conducted Day 1 of the 2-Days YABC (Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change) Training at the Youth Development Centre, GCU Lahore.
A total of 28 participants from diverse academic backgrounds participated in the training, including 19 females and 9 males, reflecting inclusive youth engagement across disciplines.
The session was facilitated by Mudassar Habib Jami, Youth & Volunteer Officer, PRCS Punjab, who introduced participants to the core philosophy of YABC fostering empathy, inclusion, non-violence, and positive behavioural change through interactive and experiential learning approaches.
Day 1 featured an introduction to the humanitarian mandate of PRCS, followed by engaging activities such as Introduction Exercises, the Labeling Activity, “Give Up,” and the Tree Mirror Activity. These activities encouraged self-reflection, challenged stereotypes, and promoted mutual understanding—essential values for effective disaster risk reduction, community resilience, and humanitarian response.
Through this training, DRMS aims to equip youth with essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and humanitarian values, empowering them to act as responsible, compassionate, and proactive change-makers in disaster-prone and vulnerable communities.
