1 September 2026 - To further protect the rights of Filipinos in Poland, a Philippine Embassy team led by First Secretary Geronimo Suliguin met with the NGO La Strada Foundation.

Discussions with the Board Members and case officers of La Strada, led by human rights activist Irena Dawid-Olczyk, were on how to further advance cooperation with the Philippine Embassy, and the sharing of best practices in handling cases involving Filipino victims.

Both the embassy and the foundation are geared toward protecting and promoting the rights of Filipino nationals, with a focus on activities that prevent exploitation and human trafficking in Europe.

As agreed in the previous meeting last April, both sides are committed to work further on expanding the services that could be provided to Filipinos in Poland, including consultation, legal advice, and referral support.

PHILIPPINES-POLAND ECONOMIC RELATIONS

August 25, 2026 -- The think-tank Institute of Regional Studies (Instytut Studiów Regionalnych or ISR), a policy-analysis organization with a strong focus on West Pomerania, the Polish-German borderland, and the Baltic Sea region, recently interviewed Philippine government trade-and-investment promotion official Nicanor S. Bautista, the Commercial Counsellor of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) based in Berlin, which is part of the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)'s overseas network.

The interview highlighted the strengths of the Philippines as an investment destination for Polish businesses. Among the points mentioned by Counsellor Baustista were the following:

"The Philippines is no longer just an exporter of workers, but focuses on creating the conditions for running an effective business."

"We have a young and rich team of qualified and professional employees. Our qualified staff, whose median age is 26, is now one of the youngest in the world. In total, about 52 million employees are expanded each year by an average of 700 thousand graduates of medical and related fields, IT, engineering, education, business administration and accounting. Numerous staff are fluent in English, well-educated, highly motivated, mostly Roman Catholic and staunch supporters of democratic values of freedom of speech, freedom of the press and global order based on principles."

Effective 1 July 2026, the World Bank classified the Philippines as an
upper-middle-income economy, following its assessment of 2025 gross national
income per capita.
