Message to our fellow Australians in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.

Australia’s travel advice has recently been updated.

The advice for Saudi Arabia and Oman is now „Reconsider your need to travel,“ while for Bahrain and Yemen it is „Do not travel.“

These changes reflect the current security situation in the Middle East, which remains unpredictable. There is a risk of further attacks and escalation. In the last two weeks, critical infrastructure, energy infrastructure and military bases in the region have been targeted.

Travel disruptions can occur at any time.

While airports remain open, flights may be cancelled, delayed, or changed at short notice. Please monitor your airline for updates to your travel plans,

If you are currently in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, or Yemen, please continue to follow and in the event of escalation, please follow the advice of local authorities.

We've reviewed our advice for Bahrain and have raised the overall travel advice level.

We now advise do not travel overall due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.

Military strikes and reprisal attacks are intensifying in a number of locations in the region, including towards targets in Bahrain.

There is a risk of further escalation in coming days, including military attacks on civilian infrastructure. Prioritise your safety.

Follow local warning systems and, if warned of an imminent attack, move to an enclosed hardened shelter. If these are not available, seek an inner room without windows. Monitor developments closely and follow advice of local authorities.

Military conflict in the region may cause travel disruptions, including airspace closures and flight cancellations at short notice. Before travelling by air, land or sea, check the status of border crossings and transport routes, as they can close without warning. If you can secure a safe way to leave, consider departing the region.

Make sure you have access to enough food, water and essential medicines in case conditions deteriorate or travel is disrupted.

Avoid military sites and bases, government buildings and energy infrastructure. These locations are not always signposted, particularly military sites. Remain vigilant, review the latest guidance and follow the instructions of local authorities.

We’ve reviewed our travel advice for Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia and have raised the overall travel advice level. We now advise 'reconsider your need to travel' overall due the unpredictable security situation. Avoid non-essential travel to these locations. If you need to transit, stay as short a time as possible and avoid unnecessary activities. Airspace may close at short notice. Flights can change or stop suddenly. Borders can close.

The US Embassy in Manama has information to suggest that Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in central Manama and urges all Americans to remain vigilant, follow local authorities’ instructions, and review the latest guidance.

We encourage Australians in Bahrain to do the same. Monitor Embassy communications for guidance and follow the advice of local authorities.

لقد أسعد سفير 🇦🇺 لدى المملكة العربية السعودية، مايلز أرميتاج، حضور حفل التخرج والاحتفال بالشراكة بين المملكة العربية السعودية وأستراليا في مجال التدريب على الطيران من خلال الكلية الأسترالية لعلوم الطيران بالرياض.
