🇲🇾 Celebrating Malaysia, Together!

The Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh hosted a reception on 16 September 2026 in commemoration of Malaysia’s National Day, Malaysia Day and Malaysian Armed Forces Day, graced by His Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Mayor of Riyadh Region, as the Guest of Honour.

The celebration brought together distinguished guests, members of the diplomatic corps, the Malaysian community and friends of Malaysia for an evening of friendship, unity and Malaysian heritage.

The programme featured the national anthems of Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a speech by H.E. Dato’ Syed Bakri, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a cake-cutting ceremony and a captivating Silat cultural performance, followed by a Malaysian culinary experience.

🇲🇾 Strengthening Malaysia–Saudi Arabia Tourism Ties

Tourism Malaysia hosted its second industry networking event in Riyadh, following the successful engagement in Jeddah in July, as part of the efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s presence in the Saudi market under Visit Malaysia 2026–2027.

The event was graced by H.E. Dato’ Syed Mohamad Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to Saudi Arabia, accompanied by Mr Zaidi Kassim, Director of Tourism Malaysia Jeddah, and brought together over 80 representatives from the travel trade and media sectors.

The networking session provided a valuable platform to strengthen partnerships, explore new business opportunities and promote Malaysia as a preferred destination for Saudi travellers.

Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh, represented by Mr. Nik Ady Arman, Deputy Chief of Mission, along with Tourism Malaysia Jeddah, had a meeting with AlMosafer on 9 September 2026, at the margins of the World Travel Market held in Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center (RFECC).

Following the meeting, the Embassy witnessed the signing of the strategic partnership between Almosafer and Tourism Malaysia to boost travel and tourism offerings from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia.

AlMosafer is a renowned tourism operator in Saudi Arabia to discuss collaboration on current and upcoming effort to promote Malaysia as a destinatiom for saudi tourist, in line with the Visit Malaysia Year 2026-2027 initiative.

20 July 2026 - Dato’ Syed Bakri, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted a dinner in honour of YBhg. Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul bin Ahmad, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) during his working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 20 July 2026.

The dinner was also attended by Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Alfanar Group, Dr. Samir J. Serhan, CEO of Acwa Power, as well as other senior officials from TNB, Alfanar Group and Acwa Power.

The President and CEO of TNB and his delegation also visited Alfanar Group, arranged by Alfanar Group and Mr. Yazrin Syakhairi Mahlan, Trade Commissioner.

Alfanar is one of the leading players in the Kingdom’s energy ecosystem. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Alfanar Group and his team.

Founder and Chairman of ACWA Power, Mr. Mohammad A. Abunayyan, Saudi’s biggest Independent Water & Power Producer (IWPP) hosted a meeting with the President & CEO of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul Ahmad and his delegation. Also in attendance was Dato’ Syed Bakri, Ambassador of Malaysia to Saudi Arabia and Mr. Yazrin Syakhairi Mahlan, Trade Commissioner.

The session discussed the existing cooperation between TNB and ACWA Power that started since 2005, and some possible new areas of collaboration between the two companies. The session ended with a cordial luncheon at Chairman Abunayyan’s residence.
