Since 1969, Peace Corps Volunteers have served alongside Eswatini communities, building connections rooted in service, cultural exchange, and partnership. Over the past five decades, more than 1,400 Volunteers have contributed to programs in education, agriculture, community health, and youth development across Eswatini.

Last Friday, Chargé d’ Affaires Marc Weinstock joined Peace Corps Eswatini, government officials, community leaders, former and current Volunteers, and partners to celebrate 50 years of Peace Corps partnership in Eswatini at Mountain View Hotel in Mbabane.

The event honored the people and communities who have shaped this enduring partnership — from host families and schools to clinics and youth programs — and reflected on the shared commitment to empowering communities and strengthening mutual understanding.

As Peace Corps Eswatini looks to the future, the spirit of collaboration and community leadership continues to guide its mission across the Kingdom.

On April 30, we celebrated Take Your Child to Work Day!

Our young visitors spent the day exploring the work of an Embassy, from participating in activities to engaging with the different teams. It was a hands-on, eye-opening experience filled with learning and discovery.

Moments like these go beyond a single day—they help children connect what they learn in school to the real world. By opening our doors, we help plant the seeds of curiosity, confidence, and ambition that can shape how they imagine their future paths.

Seeing the workplace through their eyes was a powerful reminder of the importance of inspiring the next generation.

Chargé d’ Affaires Marc Weinstock was out and about on Dr. Sishayi Road in Mbabane this past Saturday, joining the vibrant crowds at the 2nd edition of the Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair. The atmosphere was electric, with throngs of Emaswati turning up to support and celebrate the incredible talent, creativity, and innovation that Eswatini has to offer.

Events like these highlight the critical role of entrepreneurship in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and strengthening communities. From locally crafted products to emerging enterprises, the fair was a true showcase of Eswatini’s dynamic business spirit.

The United States continues to value its partnership with Eswatini and remains committed to exploring new business opportunities between our two countries. By supporting entrepreneurs and encouraging collaboration, we can foster shared prosperity and deepen our economic ties.

In September last year, we bid farewell to Bongekile Matsenjwa as she embarked on a life-changing journey to the U.S. for the Hubert Humphrey Fellowship. Today, we are incredibly proud to congratulate her on successfully completing her fellowship at UC Davis in Natural Resources, Sustainability and Environmental Policy.

Her journey has been one of growth, learning, and global connection, and we celebrate all that she has achieved along the way.

Here’s what she had to say about her experience: “The Humphrey Hubert Fellowship program has been absolutely amazing! The fellowship program has increased my ability and confidence in skills that I acquired through the experience - technical, professional, personal, social, English proficiency and leadership. My experience on the Fellowship has helped me to grow as a professional in the oil and gas sector through a global platform, I developed relationships, collaborations, partnerships with American professionals and other networking successes.”

The U.S. government today donated four blood gas analyzers worth $164,620 (E2.27 million) to the RFM Hospital in Manzini.

Blood gas analysis is a critical tool that helps guide healthcare workers by enabling immediate treatment decisions in emergency situations, while also optimizing oxygen therapy for severely ill patients.

“I want to emphasize that this is not just about machines; it is about shared responsibility that places emphasis on sustainability—which will see Eswatini become less dependent on foreign assistance and move towards self-reliance.”- Chargé d'Affaires Marc Weinstock said when handing over the equipment to the Minister of Health Mduduzi Matsebula.

The support from the U.S. government to Eswatini is part of a broader partnership: to strengthen health systems; to sustain the fight against HIV; to prepare for the next pandemic; and to ensure that facilities like RFM—rooted in faith, service, and community—have the right tools to serve their patients with excellence and compassion.

Celebrating Eswatini’s Creative Leadership in the U.S.

We are proud that Sizo Hlophe, a leading cultural curator and arts administrator from Eswatini, is in the United States as a participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on “Driving Economic Growth through the Creative Industries.”

Through his work with Sound Diplomacy, Antidote Culture Foundation, Antidote Music, Eswatini Theatre Club, and as a photographer and a curator Sizo helps professionalize local talent, preserve Eswatini’s cultural heritage, and expand economic opportunities for the creative and performing arts.

Sizo and creative sector leaders from across the African continent will travel to various cities in the United States to engage with American experts and institutions. During the program, Sizo will be asked to share information about opportunities to engage with Eswatini. The IVLP project will also showcase the many ways arts and culture are supported in the United States, including American entrepreneurship and innovation, volunteerism and giving, and government seed funds and policies that promote free speech, intellectual property protection, and formation of coalitions and public-private partnerships that allow the arts and culture sectors to flourish and bring economic and intangible benefit to their communities.

Tell him to share pictures and updates so that we can follow his journey and learn from U.S. practices in creating meaningful spaces and events, drawing on history, art, and culture!
