Announcements to Control the spread of COVID-19 in Thailand

"No curfew, no lockdown"
CCSA: New nationwide measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection

**CCSA English briefing on Friday 16 April 2021**

1. The number of new confirmed cases is 1,582 with 97 new recoveries. The accumulated number of infected cases is 39,038 cases with 10,461 active cases. The accumulated fatalities stand at 97.

2. MOPH reported that the confirmed cases have now been found in all 77 provinces of Thailand since the current outbreak started. The number of new cases is increasing due to infections among family members, colleagues, and those in contact with previous cases linked to crowded places. As the infection rates are higher among younger persons, the virus is able to spread to wider areas due to frequent movement rates of the patients.

3. This afternoon, the Prime Minister chaired the general meeting of the CCSA to discuss on new measures to control the virus while minimizing the impact on the livelihoods of the people. The CCSA has re-categorised the COVID-19 zoning area measures for all provinces, in which 18 provinces will be categorized as maximum controlled areas and 59 provinces will be in the controlled area category.

4. The CCSA has encouraged all public and private agencies to allow their employees to work from home at maximum capacity. It also advises against interprovincial travel for the time being, as well as to minimize movement between 23.00 hrs. to 04.00 hrs. to reduce nighttime gatherings.

5. The nationwide measures will include:
- the closure of entertainment places such as karaoke, pubs and bars.
- Alcoholic drinks will be banned from all restaurants
- Any gathering of more than 50 people will be prohibited.
- All educational institutions will be closed, as well as amusement parks and indoor playgrounds.
- Shopping malls will also be closed at 21.00 hrs.

6. In Maximum Controlled Area, specific measures will include:
- Convenience stores and supermarkets that operate 24/7 will be closed from 23.00 hrs. until 04.00 hrs. of the next morning.
- Gyms and sports arena will be closed at 21.00 hrs.
- Restaurants will be closed at 21.00 hrs. but will be able to receive takeaway orders until 23.00 hrs.

In the controlled area or orange zone, measures will include:
- Restaurants will be able to receive customers until 23.00 hrs.

**All measures are set to be imposed from 18 April 2021 and will be implemented for at least two weeks.

7. MOPH reaffirms its policy that all infected persons must be hospitalized in order to reduce the risk of community transmission. Those waiting for hospital beds may contact the hotline number 1330, 1668, and 1669 to find available beds at the nearest medical facility.

8. As of today, more than 510,456 persons have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 75,576 persons are now fully vaccinated. Of all vaccinated persons, more that 40 percent are health workers.

9. MOPH, in cooperation with Rajavithi Hospital, has provided an online "risk assessment" at https://covid19.rajavithi.go.th/test.This self-assessment tool is available in Thai, English, Myanmar, and Chinese in order to encourage people to be more aware of their self-protection from health risks and to reduce unnecessary hospital visits.

GARUDA INDONESIA FLEW 11 ORANGUTANS HOME FROM MALAYSIA AND THAILAND
Jakarta, December 17th 2020 – The Indonesia national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia supports the repatriation of protected animal by flying 11 (eleven) Orangutans from Malaysia and Thailand. The protected wildlife repatriation flight arrived in Jakarta today, Thursday (17/12) Bangkok - Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur – Jakarta flights.

President & CEO of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said that, "It is an honour for Garuda Indonesia as the national flag carrier to have the opportunity to support the Government's commitment through the Indonesian Ministry of Environment in preserving endangered species in Indonesia and fighting illegal wildlife trade".

In preparing the repatriation process of 11 (eleven) orangutans - divided into 9 orangutans from the National Wildlife Rescue Center (NWRC), Perak, Malaysia National and 2 (two) orangutans from Khao Prathap Chang Wildlife Breeding Center, Ratchaburi Province, Thailand - Garuda Indonesia ensures that all required documents and procedures for transporting orangutans are fulfilled according to international regulations from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as well as quarantine and customs regulations in Indonesia.

The nine orangutans from Kuala Lumpur flew by GA 821 arrived in Jakarta this afternoon at 14.00 WIB with an Airbus A330-900 neo fleet, while two other orangutans departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport on GA 867 arrived in Jakarta this afternoon at 17.45 WIB using the A330-300 fleet.

Garuda Indonesia also coordinated intensively with the Ministry of Environment about the readiness of the live animal room for orangutans during transit in Jakarta as well
with the quarantine and animal health officer for the Orangutan’s health check procedures before departing again the next day to Jambi and Medan.

This orangutan repatriation flight certainly has an important meaning for bilateral relations between Indonesia and Thailand and also Malaysia, where the momentum of the repatriation of orangutans from Thailand also coincides with the commemoration of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Thailand, which have turned 70 this year.
