Keep others including bicyclists in mind when you drive, please give them 3 feet of space when passing (between the farthest reach of your car to their handlebar)

In light of the recent tragedy in Aiea last night, we'd like to remind drivers to always be alert, check their speed, check their surroundings for a disabled vehicle, because someone could be working on their car, or waiting for a tow truck to arrive. Let's do this together, by watching out for one another.

Each year in Hawaii, over 100 people die from traffic-related crashes. On this, the 3rd Sunday of November, we the Hawaii State Department of Transportation honor those killed or seriously injured in traffic crashes. In coordination with other state and local partners, buildings around Hawaii will be lit in orange this week to hold vigil for these lives and thank emergency responders for their lifesaving work. Let’s remember to make safe driving choices as we start our holiday season: don’t drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, buckle up, slow down, and move over. We pledge to continue working tirelessly so that there are no more victims of these senseless and preventable crimes. Remember, Support, Act.
