Akron Municipal Court’s Administrative/Presiding Judge David Hamilton is partnering with the Akron Urban League and the Summit Legal Defenders to offer on-site expungements for those who qualify. The event will take place on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes Running Back Maurice Clarett will be a guest speaker at this event. Clarett was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year for his outstanding performance during the Buckeyes’ historic 2002 season when they won the BCS National Championship.

Clarett is now a public speaker who openly discusses his dismissal from The Ohio State University, his imprisonment and what inspired him to establish The Red Zone, a behavioral health agency in Youngstown, in 2016. He is deeply dedicated to mental health advocacy, entrepreneurship and community development with a special focus on aiding homeless youth, senior citizens and expectant mothers. Clarett is a native of Youngstown and graduated from Warren G. Harding High School.

Registration is preferred and the deadline to register is October 23, 2026 or until all spots are filled. Walk-ins are welcome the day of the event. The registration form can be found here: https://forms.gle/KtcSzhChT6No7NC59

Earlier this month, Akron Municipal Court Administrator William Owens toured the Haven of Rest facility in Downtown Akron.

Founded in 1943, Haven of Rest is one of the largest private social service agencies in our region. Filling a vital community role, Haven of Rest responds to the physical, spiritual and emotional needs of homeless men, women and children.

Last week, Judge Jon Oldham and Judge Jerry Larson, along with several staff members, attended the State of the County Address where Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro highlighted the County's continued investments in public safety, economic development, infrastructure and social services.

The event took place at the John S Knight Center.

This was County Executive Shapiro's eighth State of the County address.

: Our Connect Program participants traveled to Towpath Tennis Center yesterday for an ACEing Autism session led by Katie Orlando and her fantastic team!

ACEing Autism is helps individuals with developmental disabilities grow, develop and benefit from social connections and fitness through tennis programming. Some of the participants had played tennis in the past while it was a new experience for others.

Akron Municipal Court Judge Ron Cable created Connect for developmentally disabled adults in the criminal justice system.

Congratulations to all the individuals recognized last week at the Greater Akron Chamber's Thirty For The Future Event!

We are especially proud of Attorney Jeananne Wickham who started her legal career as Law Clerk for Akron Municipal Court Judge Jon Oldham. Attorney Wickham graduated from The University of Akron School of Law and was recently named Partner at Amer Cunningham Co. LPA.

The event took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn.
