Welcome Stuart Vitillo, our newest Firefighter/Paramedic. Day one at AFD is packed with shift orientation and hands on familiarization of tools and equipment. We are happy to have Stuart as part of our team.

Alabaster Fire Department is a career fire department serving the City of Alabaster, Alabama. Established in 1952, the Department operates out of three firehouses with 60 personnel. The Department provides fire suppression services, advanced life support emergency medical care, technical rescue services, fire code inspections, and a wide variety of public education programs.
Mission: The Alabaster Fire Department is dedicated to serving with pride and professionalism through the delivery of quality emergency and public services, acting with respect and bringing honor to our community, department, and family at all times.

We would like to extend a big thank you to The Saginaw Pipe Company for their generous donation of materials to the Alabaster Fire Department. The company has been part of our community since 1983! We are honored to have Saginaw Steel as a community partner.
Congratulations to our Chaplin Arthur Harrison @chaplain_ar for being named the senior pastor at Alabaster FUMC! Arthur is active in our department and is a great asset for our members. He truly loves what he does and never misses a chance to train!
This week our crews hosted live fire training with Helena and Calera fire departments. Our organizations regularly support one another with automatic and mutual aide on various incidents. Training together ensures efficient and safe operations on the fire-ground.
This week we took delivery of a new Sutphen Pumper from @williams_fire_apparatus. After 3 days of in service training, we officially placed Engine 13 in service with a traditional push-in ceremony.
Congratulations to Bella for being the top earner of the Warrior Run fundraiser at Meadowview Elementary. She earned a ride to school in Engine 12! Way to go! Shannon Dial Rumley

Today we had the privilege of celebrating Brayden Wallander’s coming home party! Brayden is 6 years old and has been battling cancer at St. Jude’s hospital. After months of treatment he has been able to return home. We were honored to be part of this special day with Brayden and his family. No celebration would be complete without a Firehouse party and a fire engine ride home for Brayden. Congratulations Braydens Odyssey!!

Thank you to the Angel Warriors Foundation and Autism Society of Alabama for providing first responder training today. This training provided us with tools to better serve all members of our community.
Crews arrived quickly today and extinguished a bedroom fire. Early detection and rapid response prevented major damage to the home.

This week Alabaster Fire Department & Alabama Fire College are hosting a National Fire Academy training course, Command and Control of Incident Operations. In attendance are 24 students from Shelby and Jefferson Counties representing 8 different Fire Departments. This free course provides simulation based training for tactics, strategies, and managing emergency scenes with the Incident Command System. The time these students have dedicated this week will positively impact their organizations and support mutual aid emergency operations in central Alabama.

Did you know a Firefighter’s protective clothing and breathing apparatus weigh more than 50 pounds? This week each crew completed a consumption course drill to practice operating safely and efficiently in their protective gear.

Calera man charged with murder in Alabaster crash - Shelby County Reporter
A 35-year-old Calera man has been released from the Shelby County Jail on a $101,000 bond after he was arrested in late January and charged with reckless murder in connection with a 2018 crash in Alabaster.
