Fire Chiefs Point of View

During the past months of continually managing the impact of the COVID19 crisis our staff has continued to meet the challenge. In addition to responding to the emergency needs of our city our staff took on more task to keep us moving forward as a department and city. In times where contact is limited and the future is uncertain the pride and dedication of our staff has been inspiring. Fire House #1 and especially the A-shift completely repainted and upgraded the apparatus bay, members have repaired equipment in-house, all shifts and stations continued to keep us ready by testing all hose and nozzles, the Training Division provided COVID-19 safety training for all city employees, The Logistics Division has kept supplies and protective equipment available to all stations and city divisions, Engine Companies have provided ride-by birthday and graduation wishes for our citizens, members of our staff took on support positions with the state EOC, Code Enforcement Officers have patrolled our parks and help monitor crowds at open businesses. This is a small list of the task our staff took ownership of in addition to their emergency duties.
As Fire Chief I can’t say thank you enough to our staff for all you do for our department and our city.

Trying to find out a more exact location of where tonights Fireworks Show will be launched? I understand it will be at the new Thompson HS campus. That is a very large area, any chance of revealing a more specific place or location for best viewing, parking, etc. I realize exiting will be a challenge.
Thank you Alabaster Fire dept for your service throughout the year and a special thanks to the Santa crew for taking the time....
They are just an awesome group of heroes.
I went by Alabaster Fire Department on Butler Rd this morning at about 915am to get my blood pressure checked. Captain Nathan Smitherman checked it and my pressure was a little high. I told him that I work at Maylene Post Office. Cpt. Smitherman told me that if I was not feeling better to call the fire department or come back. I explained that I could not leave, he told me if he got a chance he would come to me. At 11:00 he came to the post office and checked my blood pressure. Now that is what you call Great Public Service. Kudos to Cpt. Smitherman.

What date will Christmas Village close?
OK, here is an update for those who know. Last Saturday I fell and hit my ribs on my recliner arm. I put up with the pain until yesterday and decided to go to the ER. I just badly bruised ribs and ego, the pain is outrageous, I was completely helpless. I really appreciate the Alabaster Fire Department for coming here 3 days in a row to help me out, they are a great group of guys. A shout out to my friends and neighbors Martin Hinton (AKA my brother) and Elise Wysong Reed for dinner and especially my Trophy Wife for putting up with me. My boys want to put me in a home, I'm going to resist.😀😂🤣🤔
Thank you Alabaster FD for responding to my home is less that 5 minutes. You were very professional and punctual. I appreciate you!
