Monteith House

Monteith House Built in 1849 by Albany founders Thomas and Walter Monteith, come experience this immersive museum. That way each of them could sleep on his own land.

The Monteith House was built in 1849 by brothers Thomas and Walter Monteith. It was the first frame house built in Albany and they built the house with the centerline between their land claims. The Monteith family was instrumental in the development of Albany and with high aspirations named it after the capital of their home state: New York.

The Monteith House is hosting day camp for kids going into grades 1-6.

Children will learn and explore pioneer life through stories and hands-on activities. Partial costumes and snacks will be provided.

Date: August 14

Time: 9:00-2:00

Cost: $50/child

*Children will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle.

Send your little pioneer back in time at the Monteith House Pioneer Day Camp on August 14 from 9 AM–2 PM! Kids ages 6–12 will experience life on the Oregon Trail through hands-on activities, crafts, games, and interactive learning. A snack and partial pioneer costume are included!

🏡 **July 25** – **Albany Historic Interior Homes Tour**
Step inside some of Albany's beautiful historic homes and experience the stories and architecture that make our community so special.

🌾 **August 14** – **Pioneer Day Camp**
Young pioneers will spend the day exploring what life was like in Oregon Territory through hands-on activities, crafts, games, and more!

👻 **August 15** – **Summer Ghost Walks**
Who says you have to wait until October? Join us for an evening of history, mystery, and a few ghostly tales at the Monteith House.

The Monteith House Museum is open **Wednesday–Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.** Stop by for a free guided tour and discover the stories of one of Albany's oldest homes.

It’s almost time—Tomorrow is Tour Day in Historic Albany!

The forecast is beautiful, the historic homes look incredible, and our volunteers are ready to give you an unforgettable day. Grab your tickets, invite a friend, and come stroll through history with us!

Albany Historic Summer Home Tour
Saturday, July 25, 11-5

Tickets are $20 and available online now through July 24, and in-person the day of the event. Well-behaved children under 12 are admitted free with a paid adult.

On the day of the tour, visit the Albany Visitors Association office, 122 Ferry St SW, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to pick up your ticket, which includes a map, and a wristband. Both will be needed to enter the homes. Ticket sales will be available at the AVA on the day of the tour. Ticket sales the day of the event will be for cash/check only.
