🌟 Supporting our youngest learners from the very start!

DOWEA - Aukamm Elementary School in Wiesbaden recently welcomed preschool-aged children and their families for Preschool Connections, a family engagement event focused on early learning, kindergarten readiness, and community support.

Through hands-on activities, literacy and communication workshops, and resources from community partners, families gained practical tools to help their children learn and grow at home.

Thank you to the educators, specialists, community partners, and families who made this event a success. Together, we're helping military-connected students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. 📚✨

📐 Strong partnerships help students succeed!

At DOWEA Humphreys Middle School, families recently came together for Math Night, an event that connected parents, students and educators while exploring tools, resources and strategies that support mathematics learning.

Through presentations, interactive activities and conversations with teachers, families gained insight into curriculum, student resources and ways to support learning at home.

At DoWEA, we recognize parents are a child’s first teachers, and we value the strong partnerships between families and schools that help students thrive. Thank you to the Humphreys Middle School math team and families for making Math Night a success and strengthening the home-school connection that supports student achievement!

🎓 New college readiness opportunity for DoWEA students!

For School Year 2026-2027, DoWEA is offering 100 Classic Learning Test (CLT) vouchers for eligible students in grades 11-12. The CLT provides an additional college entrance exam option and is accepted by more than 375 colleges and universities, including U.S. military service academies.

By expanding access to rigorous academic opportunities and multiple pathways to postsecondary success, DoWEA continues to support students as they prepare for their future.

The Department of War Education Activity (DoWEA) announced today the availability of an additional college readiness opportunity for students in grades 11–12 through the Classic Learning Test (CLT) during School Year 2026–2027.

DoWEA is joining the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and implementing the Smarter Balanced assessment system for students in grades 3-7 English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics.

This addition to the DoWEA Balanced Assessment System will provide educators and families with timely, actionable information about student progress, helping support instruction, monitor growth, and strengthen student achievement.

By advancing data-informed instruction and family engagement, this initiative supports Goal 1: Student Excellence in DoWEA’s Blueprint for Continuous Improvement.

Leadership engagement is key to strengthening support for military-connected students and families.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Joseph Morici recently visited DoWEA Headquarters to meet with agency leadership and learn more about our global mission, priorities and opportunities.

During the visit, leaders discussed how DoWEA supports military-connected students and families around the world while strengthening collaboration across Manpower & Reserve Affairs.

We appreciate Mr. Morici taking the time to engage with our team and look forward to continuing our partnership in support of the Department of War.

DOWEA - Afnorth US Middle High School student Sophia Wick recently represented DoWEA Europe at the Young People's Continental Congress in Philadelphia.

Selected as one of only 27 students from across the United States and its territories, Sophia joined peers in exploring the legacy of the nation's founding, examining the Constitution's origins, and collaborating on a Declaration of Aspirations for the future of American democracy.

We are proud of the leadership, scholarship, and civic engagement Sophia demonstrated while serving as an outstanding ambassador for military-connected students around the world!
