Family Promise of Collin County We recognize that poverty is a multifaceted problem that requires a multifaceted response. We provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families.

Family Promise of Collin County empowers families facing homelessness by providing shelter, resources, and support to help them achieve lasting stability and independence. We respond by integrating educational outreach, smart programming, effective policies, and the hands-on work of thousands of volunteers. We provide advice and advocacy for at-risk families to prevent their becoming homeless. And we educate people about poverty and the means to combat it. We accomplish our work through independent Affiliates in 39 states (and counting). We work community-by-community, guided by experts . . . the people who live there and know it best. At the heart of each Affiliate is an Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN). The IHN marshals existing local resources to provide for homeless families as they work to get back on their feet. These resources include available congregational spaces, donated goods, and - most importantly - volunteers. Today, we mobilize more than 125,000 volunteers from coast to coast in our commitment to building communities, strengthening lives. Our Affiliates are nonsectarian. They welcome all clients. Their volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and represent nearly every faith in the United States. Since our founding more than twenty years ago, we have served more than 250,000 people, including tens of thousands of homeless families who found temporary homes at our Affiliates. Most of our clients are children. Our proven approach has helped 80 percent of clients secure housing. Our Vision: a nation in which every family has a home, a livelihood, and the chance to build a better future together.

Please join us in welcoming Amber Sims, QMHP-CS, to the Family Promise of Collin County team!

Amber joins us with a strong background in criminal justice, behavioral health, crisis response, leadership, and community based support. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, is a trained mediator, and is currently working toward her project management certification.

Before entering the behavioral health field, Amber spent ten years working in parole services. Her career has also included mobile crisis response, emergency coordination, advance planning, and leading teams that served individuals and families during some of lifeโ€™s most difficult moments.

Amber describes herself as compassionate, resourceful, analytical, and solution-oriented. She believes in taking the time to understand each personโ€™s situation, recognize their strengths, and identify practical ways to help them move forward.

When she is not working, Amber enjoys spending time with her family and pets, learning new things, developing ideas, and exploring entrepreneurship.

We are excited to welcome Amber to Family Promise of Collin County and look forward to the experience, care, and fresh perspective she brings to our families and community!

Please join us in welcoming ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’…๐’š๐’‚ ๐‘จ๐’š๐’‚๐’๐’†๐’˜, our new intern at Family Promise of Collin County!

๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’…๐’š๐’‚ earned her bachelorโ€™s degree in Political Science from the University of Houston and is currently pursuing a masterโ€™s degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington, specializing in supporting children and families.

Having grown up in the area, ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’…๐’š๐’‚ is especially excited to serve the same communities that helped shape her. She brings valuable experience in intensive case management, supporting vulnerable refugee families as they navigate complex barriers, and mentoring youth. Throughout her internship, ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’…๐’š๐’‚ hopes to create a welcoming space where families feel comfortable sharing their challenges while receiving the support and encouragement needed to move toward lasting stability.

๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’…๐’š๐’‚ describes herself as a compassionate connector and advocate who leads with empathy while promoting self-sufficiency. Outside of her professional and academic work, she enjoys running, reading, completing puzzles, and exploring new countries with family and friends.
