Thank you to everyone who attended our event today. We appreciate the support.

We had a good turnout, and are glad the ACHS classes of 1980 & 1981 chose our event for their reunion.

Thanks to the ACHS Sports Boosters for selling food.

Curt Reardon won the 50/50 drawing.

This event would not occur if it weren't for the efforts of Sue Braasch, Gary Braasch, Dave Ruff, and Scott Ruff.

And the approximately two dozen people who volunteered to sell beverages over the course of the day.

Friends, we're a little over a week away from our annual W**e & Music on the Lawn fundraiser at the Wright House.

It is Saturday, September 19, 2:00-9:00 p.m.

And there are some things we want you to know before arriving that day.

Above all, this is a fundraiser.
It is the single largest source of income each year that the Wright House has. As you might expect, maintaining a 137 year old home is not inexpensive.
Everyone who helps with Wright House is a volunteer. Every cent we receive is spent in some way on maintaining the house. For example, we have a major ceiling repair to undertake this coming winter.

And, know this, we appreciate the community support and are glad we have loyal supporters who join us each year, as well as the many new visitors who seem to find us each year.

With that said, here is information that will help you prepare for your visit on Saturday, September 19, and perhaps avoid any awkward situations.

1) Our event is CASH ONLY. No debit/credit cards. No Venmo, no Paypal, nothing electronic. Cash is King. And bring plenty of it.

2) All adult guests are going to be charged $5, whether you drink/purchase alcohol or not. All those 21 and over will be charged $5 and receive an wristband that indicates two things: that they are 21+, and they have paid their $5.

3) You must be 21 to purchase alcohol. And you must be wearing a wristband to purchase alcohol. (See item #2 above) No one without a wristband may purchase or consume alcohol on the premises.

4) Alcohol will only be served in official Wright House glasses. Now, you CAN bring back an old glass from previous years. Any Wright House glass is fine. We have no problem with that. But, we will not be serving/pouring beverages in any containers other than current or past Wright House glasses.

5) NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL will be allowed. Violators will be kindly asked to cease consuming alcohol that was not purchased at our event. If, after that initial request, they persist in bringing in and/or consuming outside alcohol, they will be asked to leave the event.

6) Bring lawn chairs. Bring tables, picnic blankets, umbrellas, canopies, games, anything that will make your visit more comfortable.

We want everyone to have a nice time, enjoy the music of Dakota Danielle, and Sheafor & Simes, visit with friends in an enjoyable outdoor setting.

But, this post will close with the same thought with which it began; remember, this is a FUND RAISER for the Wright House.

We want you to spend money.
Buy our souvenir glasses.
Buy our beverages.
Support the ACHS Sports Boosters, who will be cooking food there that day.

Don't be a tightwad who complains about having to buy a glass, or gripes at a $5 admission fee, or be a cheapskate who tries to sneak a b**r in because you don't want to pay for ours. If you plan on doing any of those things, you are clearly not grasping the spirit of the event.

Friends--

A few things about tours for this summer of 2026.

First, if the forecasted temperature is to be above 85 degrees, we will not offer tours. The house has no air conditioning and it can get very warm in the house, particularly on the second floor.

Second, and most importantly, it will help tremendously if you call or text a day or two ahead to confirm a tour will be available. We are happy to give a tour, but there are often Sundays when no one comes and our volunteers do not want to waste their time sitting at the house, waiting for people to show up, and no one does.

The best way to confirm a tour is a text to 217-343-1191 with what time and day you'd like a tour, or message us on our page.

We will gladly try to accommodate you, or work out a mutually convenient time.

As always, thanks for your support of the Dr. Charles M. Wright House.
