Are you a professionally licensed Iowa Land Surveyor looking to make a meaningful impact in your community? The Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office is seeking a skilled professional to join our team in Northwest Iowa. In this role, you will play a key part in compiling and analyzing research data and field measurements that shape vital transportation projects.

LOCATION: This position is able to report to any Iowa DOT District 3 office or building location.

SHIFT: Monday – Thursday, 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., some daytime travel required.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 6/25/26

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
▶️Lead field survey crews in performing land, topographic, and construction surveys.
▶️Apply land surveying laws and legal principles to help re-establish real property boundaries and support the District Right-of-Way Department in coordinating field survey activities.
▶️Utilize specialized computer software such as coordinate geometry (COGO), computer-aided design and drafting (CADD), and data collection editors.
▶️Review engineering plans and specifications to ensure collected data meets standards required for accurate survey documentation.

Within five (5) months, employees are required to reside within 45 minutes driving time, during normal conditions, from assigned work location.
SHIFT: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary and the position is subject to be on call 24 hours a day during emergency and/or weather conditions. Some overnight travel may be required.

LOCATION: Davenport Resident Construction Engineer Office
SHIFT: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. including some evenings and weekend work; must be able to travel and may be required to stay away from home overnight during assignments; must be available to work up to 16 consecutive hours.
