OCCCO PICO

OCCCO PICO It all started with two Jesuits in Oakland. After a few years, their model morphed from neighborhood to faith-based organizing, working with congregations.

Orange County Congregation Community Organization (OCCCO) is a multi-faith, faith-based community organization that works to empower individuals and congregations to use their voice to make positive, lasting change within low-income communities of color. Inspired by their faith, along with a deep commitment to social justice, Fathers John Baumann and Jerry Helfrich started an organization called P

ICO in Northern California that adopted a neighborhood organizing focus. PICO and its affiliates operate within a congregation-based model of organizing.

Lucha to the Polls celebrates our collective power, culture, and community. Inspired by the spirit of lucha libre, this nonpartisan gathering reminds us that the fight for our voice and dignity did not begin with us; generations before us struggled so our families and communities could have the right to participate and be heard.

Through food, music, joy, and connection, we are creating a space where everyone belongs and every voice matters. Voting is not just an individual act; it is a collective expression of love for our community and hope for our future. Together, we “luchamos por nuestra voz” by showing up for one another and walking to the polls in solidarity.

Join us for a family-friendly evening centered on belonging, civic participation, and community power. All are welcome.

Maite and Caroline, members of our Monarchs of Hope youth group, share what OCCCO's IGNITE leadership program has meant to them. Over 5 sessions across 3 months, these young leaders have been learning the tools of civic engagement and taking those lessons back to their schools and communities.

This is what it looks like when young people are given the space, the knowledge, and the belief that their voice matters.

Anaheim's future is bright. And it starts right here. 🦋✨

We join our Muslim siblings in mourning the tragic violence in San Diego and hold in prayer the families of those who lost loved ones. We honor the courage and sacrifice of Amin Abdullah, who gave his life protecting others, and we will not forget his bravery. OCCCO remains committed to building a world rooted in belonging, where love is stronger than hate and our differences are not weaponized against one another.

Elliot Chung, Pastor at One Life City Church, sang a passionate and heartfelt rendition of Lean on Me by Bill Withers as community members laid flowers in front of Fullerton City Hall. In this moment of hardship and the pain of family separation, we are reminded that none of us are meant to carry these burdens alone. We need each other, and we need community.

The weight of fear, anxiety, and separation can be too much for one person to bear, so together we stand with our friends, neighbors, and families with dignity and pride. Fullerton is our Home, and united we can move mountains for our people. Our mission is to build belonging, and our call for justice will continue to be heard at City Hall and across the County.

Rooted in what unites us, our “Pilgrimage of Solidarity” across Fullerton uplifted the stories of those taken and reminded community members and elected officials alike:

OC is our home. Fullerton is our home. And we will continue building toward a community where everyone belongs.

As we gather today to celebrate our mother. We think, pray and send love to every version of motherhood and to every person carrying something heavy around this day. Especially those that have been impacted by the immigration system.

On May 2nd, nearly 30 community members joined our “Pilgrimage of Solidarity” across Fullerton, stopping at four locations where ICE took members of our community. Together, local clergy, residents, advocates, and Fullerton City Council members listened to testimonies, prayed, sang, mourned, and stood lovingly alongside our immigrant neighbors and families in an act of resiliency.

Throughout the pilgrimage, we were reminded that many faith traditions carry stories of displacement, persecution, exile, and being othered, and that those same traditions call us toward compassion, hospitality, justice, and solidarity with our neighbors most at risk.

This was a sacred moment to remember what has been lost, honor the dignity and humanity of those impacted, and urge our civic leaders to do more to protect and support immigrant communities. We believe another Orange County is possible, one rooted in belonging, courage, compassion, and justice.

Thank you to everyone who walked with us, shared their stories, held space for grief and hope, and to the Fullerton Is Our Home coalition for making this gathering possible.

OC is our home. Fullerton is our home. And we will continue building toward a community where everyone belongs.
More footage and moments from the pilgrimage coming soon.
