The Power of Kindness

A small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s day. Hold the door open, offer a genuine compliment, send a quick text to check on a friend, or simply share a smile with a stranger. You never know what challenges someone may be facing, and your simple gesture could be exactly what they need.

Research shows that acts of kindness don’t just benefit others, they can boost your own mood, reduce stress, and increase feelings of connection and well-being.

🎯 Today’s challenge: Do one kind thing for someone else. It doesn’t have to cost anything or take much time. A little kindness can go a long way. 💙

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.”

Money-Saving Tip - Alaska

Explore Alaska’s Natural Playground for Free! 🏔️🌲

One of the best ways to save money in Alaska is to take advantage of our incredible outdoor activities that cost little to nothing.

Instead of spending money on entertainment, consider:

✅ Hiking local trails
✅ Visiting public beaches and lakes
✅ Wildlife viewing from safe distances
✅ Fishing at public access areas (with proper licensing)
✅ Exploring state parks and recreation areas
✅ Attending free community festivals and summer events
✅ Packing a picnic and enjoying Alaska’s breathtaking scenery

Many of our most memorable experiences, watching a sunset over the mountains, spotting a moose on a trail, or spending a day by a glacier-fed lake are completely free.

Money Monday Tip: Before planning a costly outing, check your local parks, visitor centers, and community calendars. You may discover an amazing adventure right in your backyard without spending a dime!

What free or inexpensive activity do you recommend?

Soak Up Some Sunshine!

After a long Alaska winter, it’s time to step outside and enjoy the sunshine! Spending time outdoors helps your body produce Vitamin D, an essential nutrient that supports:

🌿 Strong bones and teeth
🌿 A healthy immune system
🌿 Improved mood and reduced stress
🌿 Better muscle function
🌿 Increased energy and overall well-being

Even a short walk, time in the garden, or enjoying lunch outside can make a positive difference. Fresh air, movement, and sunshine are a powerful combination for both physical and mental health.

✨ Money Monday ✨

Finding quality, affordable childcare can be challenging, and many military families are feeling the impact of the nationwide childcare shortage. You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Whether you’re preparing for drill weekend, balancing work and family responsibilities, or searching for childcare options in your area, we can help point you in the right direction.

Our team is here to help connect Soldiers and Family Members with childcare resources, referral programs, financial assistance opportunities, and community support services that may be available to your family.

☀️ Enjoy Our Alaska Summer Safely 🏔️🦟🐻

Alaska summers are made for adventure, midnight sun hikes, fishing trips, camping, kayaking, and making memories outdoors! While you soak up the sunshine, keep wellness and safety in mind:

🌞 Sun Safety: Yes, even in Alaska! Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect against UV rays.

💧 Hydrate: Cooler temps can make it easy to forget, but outdoor adventures still lead to dehydration, bring plenty of water!

🐻 Wildlife Awareness: Keep your distance from wildlife, make noise on trails, secure food properly, and never approach animals for photos.

🦟 Bug Protection: Mosquitoes are practically honorary Alaskans, use insect repellent and wear lightweight long sleeves when needed.

🥾 Trail Smart: Tell someone your plans, know your route, bring a charged phone or communication device, and pack essentials.

🌿 Water Safety: Alaska waters stay dangerously cold, even in summer. Wear a life jacket and be cautious around fast-moving rivers and shorelines.

🔥 Campfire Safety: Follow local fire restrictions, fully extinguish fires, and leave no trace.

🧠 Wellness Reminder: Fresh air and sunshine are great for your mental health, just plan ahead so your adventures stay safe and stress-free.

✨ Adventure smart. Explore safely. Enjoy every moment of Alaska summer!
