OCS is looking for a licensed foster home for a 4-month-old baby boy. He has some feeding needs that the hospital can train on. Anchorage area is preferred, but OCS is open to other areas as well.

SHORT-TERM CARE, LONG-TERM IMPACT | Make a powerful impact in your community by becoming a respite foster care provider!

Office of Children’s Services is recruiting licensed respite homes to take short-term placements of children when their current foster parents need assistance.

The benefits of becoming a licensed respite home:
- Provide short-term support for another licensed foster parent
- Get to know what fostering looks like
- Support children in care with a safe home

Respite foster care providers/homes must be licensed for foster care and must pass a criminal background check through fingerprinting.

SEE YOU AT THE FAIR | The Alaska Department of Family and Community Services will be at the State of Alaska booth during the Alaska State Fair on Thursday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Sept. 3, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

FAIR-TIME FAVORITES | Residents at the Alaska Veterans and Pioneers Home in Palmer enjoyed a fun fair-themed meal this month thanks to a generous donation from Sure Food Solutions and Alaska Meat Packers.

With the donated ground beef, our Nana Management Services (NMS) kitchen staff prepared a variety of fair food favorites for residents to enjoy. A special thank you to NMS Director of Indigenous Cuisine Amy Foote for helping coordinate the donation.

CONNECTING WITH VETERANS | U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins visited the Alaska Veterans and Pioneers Home in Palmer during his trip to Alaska.

Secretary Collins toured the home, met with residents, and spoke with staff and leadership about the care and services provided to Alaska's veterans. The visit offered an opportunity to highlight the dedication of our team and the work being done every day to serve those who have served our country.
