Anchorage Transportation Planning

Anchorage Transportation Planning AMATS is the federally recognized Metropolitan Planning Organization. These federal funds are generated from gasoline taxes paid by the motoring public.

The Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS) is a multiagency team working together to plan and fund the transportation system in the Anchorage Bowl and Chugiak-Eagle River areas when federal funds are being used. The State of Alaska Legislature authorizes appropriations and general obligation bonds. Additional funding is generated by local municipal bonds, as well. AMATS welc

About the Project:
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is using a Corridor Planning approach for Minnesota Drive and I/L Streets. This method looks at how land use, surrounding areas, and travel options work together. The plan will help guide future transportation investments, identify issues along the corridor, and show how these key roads fit into Anchorage’s broader transportation system.
