PSA: The city will perform maintenance work on the 8th street water tank next week.

As part of the work, the tank will be drained on Tuesday, September 8th. Residents in the northeast part of town may experience lower water pressure until the work is complete and the tank is refilled on Saturday, September 12th.

PSA: The speed limit on 26th street is changing next week.

Due to an increase in pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area, 26th street from Jaycee Park to Grand Ave. will drop from a 40mph zone to 35mph. This change will take place on Tuesday, September 8th.

We know that change takes some getting used to, but we appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If you have any questions you can reach out to city hall or patrol commander Chris Gallegos at 575-746-5048.

As a reminder, this long weekend is your last chance for outdoor aquatic fun! 🗓️

Labor Day will be the final day of the season for both the splash pad at MLK Park and the outdoor pool at the aquatic center. The splash pad will shut down at 7pm on Monday, Sept. 7th. 🌊

Get out and make one more splash for the season! If you're still looking for more fun after this weekend, you can enjoy the indoor pool at the aquatic center year-round. 🏊

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! 🪪

To celebrate, the Artesia Public Library is giving away prizes for everyone who signs up for a new library card, replaces their existing one, or updates their information. If your card is up to date and doesn't need to be renewed, you can fill out a short survey and receive a prize. 🤩

Library Card Sign-Up Month has been an initiative of the American Library Association since 1987. The aim is to combat illiteracy and encourage communities to explore the offerings of local libraries. This year's theme is "Libraries Unlock Magic." 📚💫

Last week the Artesia Senior Center had a big day thanks to the New Mexico Department of Health Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. 🤩

Bethel Boer Farm Stand from Portales delivered 75 boxes of fresh food that were passed out to our seniors. The boxes had fresh eggs, pecans, beans, garlic, onions, zucchini, squash, lemons, and cucumbers. 😋

Thank you to Bethel Boer Farm Stand, and everyone involved with the program. Our seniors are very grateful for this delivery. 👏

Back to school means there's only a few more chances for back to the pool! 🏊‍♂️

Labor Day will be the final day of the season for the aquatic center's outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is currently only open on the weekends, so get out there these next two weekends to enjoy it while you can! 🗓️
